The Heartbreak Kid is a rom com film, with Ben Stiller at his finest. I'm always a fan of Ben Stiller films (he just has one of those faces) but, this is, in my opinion, one of his funniest.

Ben Stiller plays Eddie, a 40 year old singleton. He attends the wedding of his ex (cue hilarious scenes and one liners) and realises that he would really like to settle down. The realisation seems to be thrust upon him at the wedding breakfast where he finds himself sat on the 'singles' table. In reality, this proves to be the kids table and there are various laughs when these kids question why he's sat there.
He then meets, Lila (played by Malin Akerman) in the street, where he helps her after he believes that she has been mugged. In a whirlwind romance, he proposes to her, believing this to be the only way he can stop her from being posted abroad for her job. They get married and set off on their honeymoon to Mexico, where he realises he doesn't actually know this woman at all. Various bad habits come to light and realisations are made, all very funny as you can imagine being in that position and how that would feel. Whilst on honeymoon, he meets another woman, Miranda (Michelle Monaghan), who seems more his type and the comedy unravels as he finds himself in more and more sticky situations.
This is a really good, funny rom com. The storyline is excellent - slightly extreme yet believable. The characters are also very funny (especially Eddie's dad and under-the-thumb friend) and well acted and there are several laugh out loud moments throughout the film. You are left guessing what is going to happen next, and where Eddie will end up, and there are various twists and turns as the film goes on - all of which are completely random. It's one of those films that I can watch time and time again and still laugh at what happens, even if I vaguely remember. Thereis quite a lot of content, so inevitably you forget parts or you don't notice things the first time around.
The film is 15 rated and does contain some strong language; running time is 111 minutes. The DVD also contains extras such as deleted scenes and jokes. Great Value.
Advantages: Very entertaining, Funny, great comedic episodes, stiller at his best Disadvantages: None i can think of
...sort of idea to meet the parents - minus the parents- the story is about Eddie's (stiller) quest to find a partner to settle down with. he ends up meeting the beautiful Lila played by Malin Akerman ( who has an uncanny resemblance to Cameron Diaz). Unfortunately for Eddie Lila turns out to be a walking hazard and incredibly annoying. they have a shotgun wedding and go to mexico on their honeymoon- but of course nothing goes quite as smoothly as they ... ...and somewhat painful to watch incidents, Eddie finds that Lila isn't what he wanted- and in steps Miranda played by Michelle Monaghan (Maid of honor). He's stuck between the captivating Miranda and his accident prone wife, but we aren't dissapointed as we're delivered with a hollywood fairytale ending as usual. ...
