Overview
Formed in 1986, The London Boys consisted of Edem Ephraim and Dennis Fuller fronting for their producer and songwriter Ralf-René Maué (but not in the Milli-Vanilli way because Edem and Dennis sing their own tunes). As accomplished dancers, Ephraim and Fuller quickly made a name for themselves across Europe thanks to their high energy performances and eurodisco beats.
The 1989 album "The Twelve Commandments of Dance" reached number 2 in the UK charts and is probably their best known work. This review however covers the lesser-known 1995 album "Hallelujah Hits" released shortly before the untimely demise of Ephraim and Fuller in a car accident. "Hallelujah Hits" is an unusual crossover album fusing traditional gospel compositions with eurodance beats.

During the peak of the Inca Empire, many steep paved routes were built as a system of highways throughout the empire for the chasqui runners of its ruler (the eponymous Inca) to travel on. If people mention "the" Inca trail, they are referring to the most famous one of all - the paved path leading to the famous Machu Picchu, an Incan city perched on a mountain top high in the Peruvian Andes.
Since I was a child and heard of Machu Picchu, I wanted to hike along its famous and difficult trail. The city has a mysterious appeal to it - having remained hidden from the Spanish conquistadores, it was unknown to Europeans (though not to locals!) until 1911 when Hiram Bingham "discovered" it. Even today, the city (and its neighbouring modern town Aguas Calientes) are extremely isolated - you arrive there by train or on foot, not by road ...

DVD Description
THE HALLELUJAH TRAIL is a slapstick comedy starring Burt Lancaster as cavalry officer Col. Thadeus Gearhart, set just before the winter of 1867, when the boomtown of Denver realizes it's almost run out of whiskey. The perenially drunken Oracle Jones (Donald Pleasence) hatches a plan to bring a wagon train of whiskey to Denver before winter sets in. Newspaper editor Hobbs wires temperance leader Cora Massingale (Lee Remick) about the shipment, and a group of Sioux Indians also takes an interest in the booze. Col. Gearheart leads a company assigned to protect the temperance contingent, which intends to head off the train, and Capt. Slater (Jim Hutton) leads another, assigned to protect the train. A Denver citizens group, led by Clayton Howell (Dub Taylor), is also headed for the train, not to mention the Sioux. When the Teamsters suddenly stage a sit-down strike, the train is left wide open to attack. This odd little film, based on the novel by Bill Gulick, features a star-studded cast and a score by the great Elmer Bernstein.
