Brilliant film. I bought this in the reduced section in Morrisons. I took a shine to the cover as it had skateboards on it and thought, i'll buy that. So I did, I got home and watched it and I was so amazed by it. The story line has such meaning to it yet the film is hilarious. I think this is good to show skaters how to get to the top like the legendary Tony Hawk. This film is about 4 college students that have just finished their final year and want to do something with their life. The path they want to take is the making of a professional skate team named "Super Duper Skateboards" and to gain as many sponsors as possible. The only problem is the battle to the top. The film is a series of competitions to fight their way to become pro yet they still manage to get distracted by women and their opposing competitors. The film has a linear narrative structure as the film shows the four guys travelling around America slowly becoming professional. As a skateboarder I can understand how hard it is to get sponsered nowadays because of heavy competition so this film is a good representation. What I also like about the film is that it shows the very comic side to their travels. Some of the special effects used are good and I think the skateboarding stunts are absolutely fantastic. For anyone that skates they will know what this means: there is a part when Eric skitches a quad bike and does a huge 360 indy over about 10 superloos using a ramp. An amazing shot and I'd love to shake hands with the stunt man. This film is not a documentary but it does show the bare truth about the skateboarding world.
Cast: Mike Vogal - Eric Vince Vieluf - Matt Adam Brody - Dustin Joey Kern - Sweet Lou Jason London - Jimmy Wilson Bam Margera - Himself Mike Valley (appears in skate scenes) Bob Burnquist (appears in skate scenes) And many other professional skateboarders that done most of the skateboarding stunts.
I really took a shine to the music used within the movie too. I think it has one of the best soundtracks on any film ever made. The soundtrack includes bands like Less Than Jake, Shine Down, Unwritten Law, Hot Action Cop, SLR Whitestarr, etc. If you are not into skateboarding you may not be too interested in the film but it is still a good laugh and hey, Adam Brody from the OC and Bam Margera from Jackass star in it, that must be a bonus!

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, which can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom, please let me know and I'll re-rate.
