The title of this film alone stands out amongst the rest of the budget spagetti westerns, how many rip offs of the name of this film have been used? Thousands. And what a classic this is, combined with some appaling acting, budget camera shots and poor quality sound this in my opion is one of the best films ever made. The story line is a gem all leading to a brilliant and classic ending scene, the three main characters all play fantastic roles and really make this film come alive. Its all typical spagetti stuff, the main characters are such good shots they never miss, every one else is horribly ugly and coudn't shoot straight if they tried to; but there something else here, a great plot combined with one of the best soundtracks ever, humor and loads of action, plus suspense of such i was almost quivering is what make this film great.
The plot revolves around the three characters, the good- Eastwood as 'Blondie', the bad- Lee Van Cleef as 'Angle eyes' and the ugly- good old 'Tuko'. To start with Blondie and Tuko are parnters in crime but this loving relationship splits almost at the beginning with the Treacherous Blondie double crossing Tuko and leaving him to die in the desert. From here on in the plot explodes as Tuko hunts Blondie down and vice versa until angle eys (the bad) come into it. Set in the American civil war carnage and destruction feature throughout as the characters are constantly switching from being on top to being at the bottom. These three all act brilliantly with Tuko giving an outstanding performance as the ugly, no one else could play the part better.
Eventually Tuko gets his own back on Blondie and decovers the name of a cemetery in which 200,000 dollars is hidden, unfortantly for him Blondie is the only one who knows the name of the grave so the two must combine again. it goes on for some time with the Bad once more comming into the picture, this ends with possibly the best ending to a film i've ever seen. Although the entire movie is very long for a western its well worth the watch, a classic film thats fantastic all round, i couldn't recomend a better watch for anybody, BRILLIANT!
