In this near-perfect suspense movie adapted from the popular 1960s television series that starred David Janssen, renowned vascular surgeon Dr. Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford) has...
more...been falsely accused and convicted--on circumstantial evidence--of his wife's (Sela Ward) murder. While Kimble is being transported to prison, another convict stabs an inattentive guard, causing a massive wreck. Kimble escapes but is hunted by tough U.S. marshal Sam Gerard (Tommy Lee Jones). The fugitive from injustice attempts to set the record straight: He transforms himself into a jack-of-all-trades and a man of a thousand faces in a desperate attempt to uncover the truth about his wife's murder and track down the real killer. Spectacular special effects and a pulse-pounding performance by Ford turned Andrew Davis's thrilling film into a blockbuster at the box office, leading to a sequel, U.S. MARSHALS.

he Fugitive is a 1993 feature film, based on the television series "The Fugitive." It won Academy and Golden Globe awards (Tommy Lee Jones winning Oscar for Best Supporting Actor). The film was directed by Andrew Davis and stars Harrison Ford as Dr. Richard Kimble, and Tommy Lee Jones as Deputy United States Marshal Samuel Gerard. The film also featured Andreas Katsulas as the one-armed man, Sela Ward as Kimble's wife, Jeroen Krabbé (who replaced Richard Jordan), Julianne Moore, and Joe Pantoliano. The film was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, one of the few films associated with a television series to be so honored.

Dr Richard Kimble (Ford) is a successful surgeon in Chicago who returns from surgery to find his wife Helen, (Ward) dying after a brutal assault. The attacker is a one armed man, Frederick Sykes (Katsulas) who Kimble fights, but the man escapes. Kimble is charged for the murder of his wife and sentenced to death by lethal injection. He manages a breakout whilst on the bus to the prison, and from then on is a fugitive on the run. Kimble partakes in a cat and mouse game with Sykes, with Gerard (Jones) the inmate complicating matters.

Regarded at the time of release and still now as a great film, it was the one of the highlights of Ford's career, and his part in it helped propel the film to the success that it enjoyed. A great film if you enjoy a thought provoking story, action filled sequences and brilliant and convincing characterization.
