Advantages: Very gruesome and imaginative special effects
Disadvantages: It's not very scary

...in a non-speaking part, and John Getz, as the only other proper human character. I think that's about all there is to say - I don't recall the soundtrack, so it obviously can't have been too notable… even if there was an amazing score, it would have to play second fiddle to the main draw of The Fly: the outstanding effects. You'll gasp, you'll shriek, you might even throw up. But you can't deny that this was probably a landmark of the genre (I wouldn't know: before my time) and it still holds up today, which is no mean feat. Oh, and it coined the phrase "Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid". Advantages: All versions of the film, tons of special features, a brilliant film

..., despairing, and at the same time wonderous picture of future Los Angeles. A future of flying cars, Chinese supremacy, and genetically engineered humanoids. Scott effortlessly captures the mood and ambience of a film noir, whilst still managing to use the effects needed to make a great sci-fi. This Ultimate Collector's Edition is probably the best DVD collection it is possible to own. It has literally everything! All five versions of the film, and over nine hours of special features including an introduction by the director, an entire disc incorporating the making of featurette, 16 page photo booklet, a motion film clip, deleted scenes, and many, MANY more. This really is the complete package. And the score by Vangelis fits beautifully, as it floats through the landscape and moribund skyline of Ridley Scott's world. A haunting, hard... Read review

Advantages: You dont only get the movies and 7 other discs but a Neo bust aswell
Disadvantages: The display cabinet is very cheap looking and can break easily

...This ten-disc DVD Collection has the entire Matrix trilogy, the Animatrix and over 35 hours of have-to-watch extras. The Matrix Trilogy is one of the best, if not the best trilogy, and now it is in a superb collectors edition which is compulsery to buy for its outstandingly low price. the Wachowski brothers have made three films that have grossed 1.6 billion dollars in world-wide box office receipts, the retail of the DVDs and countless other merchandise. There is a continious improvement as you watch each film which just gets you more excited for the last of the trilogy which holds the war between man and machine. If this isnt enough for you than you can begin to watch the DVD's of extras, and be sure to have a day and a half of work to do so. Advantages: For a film that is older then me and my parents it's still not an embarrassement to watch and you don't sit there pointing at the screen laughing
Disadvantages: Really for this type of film is there anything that we can moan about?

...of the scenes, like ‘In The Spaceship’, have been removed by Spielberg from one or other of the first two cuts of the film in order to make the Collector’s Edition, but others are being seen here for the first time,. But what about the film itself? After having aliens turned into malevolent figures again by The X Files and Independence Day, do Spielberg’s elf-like ETs still strike any chords with audiences? Actually, the film still stands up well today – the government are, as always, trying to suppress the truth, but in the case of CE3K it’s only until their experts are able to figure out what that truth really is. As to why the ultimately friendly aliens spend their spare time terrorising single parents and sucking their children out through the cat flap, it’s probably best not to ask too many questions in case Spielberg has us abducted...
