The film is packed with action from the word go with a bit of intrigue, a story line which never really shows up, some truly gripping scenes of cars zooming through desolate streets thrown in for good measure.
An undercover cop, a beautiful girl, a tough thug with a heart of gold are all mixed into a concoction, which is a product of Hollywood's pure indulgence. Reels and reels of film are used to show the excitement of dangerous racing and cars with good photography being the only saving grace.
Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesal) drives on the streets of LA like he owns it. And as far as his gang is concerned he does.
He spends his days putting wrench time into high performance racing cars- make and model matter less than the computer controlled fuel injection that makes them literally fly.
At nights however it is complete mayhem and anarchy fuelled by adrenaline and high speed.
Dom pilots his own earth bound rocket, pocketing as much as $10,000 a ride when somebody has the nerve to race him. And there are people to cheer such adventurers.
Enter Brian (Paul Walker) who is street smart and befriends Dom and his sister Mia (Jordana Brewster) - they don't know that he is an undercover cop investigating a series of sensational big rig hijackings.
In this dirty business is Johnny Tran (Rick Yune) who along with Dom is prime suspect. Brian is under pressure to wrap up the case and while he goes about his investigations, he finds himself attracted to Mia and to the truth behind Dom's business deals.
He has to decide between his loyalties and priorities - and this he does after a nail-biting climax.

Advantages: CarsCarsCarsCarsCarsCarsCarsCarsCarsCars. Metal. Adrenaline. OK its not a Romeo and Juliet, but hey in its own genre its a masterpiece Disadvantages: makes you jealous + greedy, watch out... ;-)
Advantages: Back to the cruising scene with great cars, great sound systems and great girls. Action packed Disadvantages: It's not as good as Fast and Furious, poor acting, unrealistic story
Advantages: Plenty of action, nice effects, Vin Diesel, no need to think too hard. Disadvantages: Not really any, unless you're expecting something that it's not.
