Naturally, being a fan of Vin Diesel I had to collect his movies. This meant buying 'The Fast and the Furious' the first movie.
I first saw the movie on Sky when it was released, and had no idea who Vin Diesel (The Chronicles of Riddick), Paul Walker (2F2F) or Michelle Rodriguez (S.W.A.T.) were.
My first impressions of the movie were that it was an exciting adrenaline rush, the cars are fascinating (especially if you know nothing about them) and the script, and the plot are interesting and intriguing.
Many people say that this movie has no calibre but they are wrong. This move is the best of it's kind when it comes to digging into the world of the 'Street Racers.'
The story begins on a freeway at night as three Honda Civics are speeding past the camera, and we soon are informed that they are doing a heist, stealing a truck to get the goods and sell them for money.
We next meet Brian Spilner, an undercover cop working to expose a group of street racers who are hijacking trucks and selling the goods.
I won’t reveal the rest of the story as that would give it away. But just to whet your appetite, I should tell you that the chase scenes are bursting with energy, wonderful screenshots capture the essence beautifully, and the climax is built up so well that it leaves you shouting at the television!
The DVD held up to my expectations, as I had expected deleted scenes and a commentary. It has both of these extra features and also includes music videos, trailers, production notes, making of and many more. The features are enough to keep you going for the rest of your life!!!
One thing I must point out, is if you do decide to buy the DVD, look carefully for the 'next' button on the extras, as it is very difficult to find. It took me a long time to find it (around three months) and I was a bit disappointed because I thought they had lied about what extras were on the DVD. But no fear! They are there!
As the certificate was rated 15 I was expecting plenty of profanity and adult references, but the movie remains respectable in terms of concentrating on the plot rather than the ‘eye candy,’ and even though there are some feisty shots in there, they all contain the one man I was looking out for! (Vin Diesel)
If you like action, excitement, plenty of noise and millions of colours, this movie is the perfect one for you. Packed with so many extra features on the DVD you’ll forget that you watched them and you’ll want to watch them again!
Also, if you enjoy Rob Cohen’s work, this is an excellent piece for the collection. His work remains rich and thrilling and makes me want to follow his work.
Buy this DVD; you won’t regret it.

I just love to feel the sound of the start engine of the black car in the end starting the engine, with the volume of my 5:1 System going really loud... João Tiago

I like this and I got this cheap in a bundle of dvds off Ebay.
Advantages: Back to the cruising scene with great cars, great sound systems and great girls. Action packed Disadvantages: It's not as good as Fast and Furious, poor acting, unrealistic story
Advantages: Plenty of action, nice effects, Vin Diesel, no need to think too hard. Disadvantages: Not really any, unless you're expecting something that it's not.
