The Fast and The Furious has an almost identical story to Point Break.
The Characters --------------
The characters are all very basic. There's the young, handsome police officer, the beautiful women, the mis-understood leader who's wanted by the police and the token naiive character who is the akilies heel of the leader.
The Story ---------
An undercover cop tries to act like one of the gang so he can bring the leader to justice, but falls in love with his sister (the gang leader's, not his own) and ends up feeling sorry for the leader and puts his career and life on the line to save his new found best friend. Can you say puke?
Who it'll be good for ---------------------
Anyone who is interested in cars and gets turned on by them whizzing through the cities at night. It's blatantly trying to be a film for the lads (the beautiful, skantily dressed women who are powerful (but aren't really or they wouldn't need to dress up so much), the billions of race cars and the running from the police) but it just comes over as crap. Yeah, I know, I'm female and so sterotypically I wouldn't fit into the mould but I'm not exactly feminine.
Who it'll be crap for ---------------------
Those that don't feel they have to be automatically impressed by a car just because it's a sports car.
In conclusion, this isn't a very good film in my opinion. Gone in 60 seconds is much better.

Advantages: Getting to see the cars kitted up and in action Disadvantages: Being in a rubbish cinema watching the film, or needing the toilet half way through the film
Advantages: Sexy men (and women!), fast cool cars, realistic cars like Ford, easy to watch - doesn't require much brain activity, eye candy! Disadvantages: storyline is entry level, but nothing special
Advantages: Back to the cruising scene with great cars, great sound systems and great girls. Action packed Disadvantages: It's not as good as Fast and Furious, poor acting, unrealistic story
Advantages: Plenty of action, nice effects, Vin Diesel, no need to think too hard. Disadvantages: Not really any, unless you're expecting something that it's not.
