** BRIEF PLOT **
Colt Seavers, (played by Lee Majors) is a Hollywood stuntman, working for some big stars in the business. Colt is also a bounty hunter who uses his abilities as a fearless stuntman to capture bail jumpers, so together with his cousin Howie Thomas, (played by Douglas Bar), who happens to be a trainee stuntman and the sexy Jody Banks, (played by Heather Thomas), the team spend each episode in search of some criminal who tries to avoid going to court… only some of these criminal don't want to be caught, causing Colt and his team so much trouble.
So as each episode opens we see the stuntman Colt doing him stuff, once he's finished rolling a car or jumping through a glass window he is soon on the road in his pick-up truck, searching for his next runaway criminal… to bring justice for all.
* IN CONCLUSION *
A pretty tame action series from the eighties involving some very tacky stunts and some even worse special effect… Don't get me wrong, it is a fine show and good enough to keep the viewer entertained, although a lot of people, especially the younger of todays generation, may find this a little boring in parts, considering it is from the eighties and has no CGIs, only cold hard stunts and dodgy fist fights. It was given a PG certificate at the time of first being aired, although a think these days that it is for any age, as the action/stunts/fights are so tame for the 21st century that it will probably be seen more as 'slapstick' than violent.
Each episode is your basic thrills and chases, most car involving Colts beloved pick-up truck, using the same sort of format but changing the outline slightly to give a different storyline… but each episode is as entertaining as the last, although you always know the outcome of the hunt, it's just a matter of how the hunt happens? The stunts…well what can be said about them? They are not the best stunts on the market, involving some rather silly looking special effects and a warehouse full of empty boxes so they have always got something to crash though/into or land on when jumping off a tall building… You instantly now how bad the stunts are when you see the so called solid ground moving when a body hits it… but it just adds to the entertainment and humour of the show… So together with the rough looking and even rougher sounding Lee Majors (with out his bionic eye and robotic legs), and his loyal team, the episodes simply fly by as you become engrossed in the brilliant 'tongue in cheek' stories.
* Would I recommend this…?
Yes I certainly would… It is harmless entertainment for all, without the 21st century bloodshed and gore that most youngsters now insist on to enjoy a show. It is simple, easy to follow and you already know the outcome so it doesn't need much concentration either…
Another hit show from the eighties.
Unfortunately…as of now they have only just released series one on DVD, which consists of 23 episodes (the pilot being counted as two episodes), giving a good seventeen plus hours, onto 6 DVDs, of harmless fun and some comical, if a little 'iffy' entertainment. This series one can be bought from amazon for less than £11.00.
Sadly…The theme tune is actually sung by the star of the show Lee Majors and is not to every ones taste…* Series one DVD brief plots.
