Two live performances of the concept-rock act led by the enigmatic would-be philosopher Robert John Godfrey. The 'Claret Hall Farm' tracklist includes: 'Fand', 'Raindown', 'Then... more
RJG met his co-founder members, Stephen Stewart and Francis Lickerish at Finchden Manor, an experimental school for gifted yet problematic students. From the outset The Enid were destined to be very different, fusing RJG's classical training with an eclectic appreciation of pop music and rock & roll. The Enid were promptly signed to major label PYE for an unprecedented sum. Unfortunately PYE was on the verge of collapse and the band suffered dearly in the wake of the fall. As if to prove their resilience The Enid continued to write music and tour until RJG's ill health meant the latter had to come to an end. They had (and still have) a huge and devoted following and were able to release future projects on their own labels Enid Records and Stand Records. RJG eventually acquired the rights to his back catalogue and The Enid survived in various forms until 1988 when remaining members RJG and Stephen Stewart parted company and concentrated on studio production for other bands. However the fans would not go away and the pair have since worked on several mutual projects and most recently reformed as the Enid, recording new and, as always, challenging material. This DVD contains footage of two concerts in 1984. Claret Hall Farm was a camping weekend for members of the Enid fan club - The Stand. Held at the band's home, which served a base for The Stand and housed the Enid's studio, the weekend and performances were essentially a party to show appreciation for the fans' loyalty over the years. Stonehenge Free Festival is self-explanatory. Shot at the last ever festival of it's kind to be held on the ancient site, this simply shot footage demonstrates the Enid's fine musicianship and originality and also gives a candid insight into Robert John Godfrey's crucial, yet uncompromising philosophy. Together for the first time on DVD the films serve as a great illustration of one of Britain's most enigmatic and fascinating bands.Track List:Claret Hall Farm:1. Fand2. Raindown3. Jessica4. -Introduction-
I've always been a fan of Derren Brown. I'm not sure if just his amazing acts or his wit, or even a mix of the two but whatever it is, I find him and his stunts spectacular. Unfortunately I was unable to see his Live show of 'SomethingWickedThisWayComes' so obviously I was excited upon discovering it's arrival to DVD, and boy was my excitement well placed.
-The Show-
The show itself is extremely entertaining. Derren is his usual self from start to finish, not only leaving his audience speechless, but also with a smile on their faces. His inclusion of members of the crowd too adds to his act, with the manner of his choosing of each participant making the act even more baffling.
This would be a good time to say, in case you missed the great big...

Advantages: A brilliant show and a total spectacle Disadvantages: Maybe the price??
...As a long-time lover of The Wizard of Oz and also fairly recently introduced to the work of musical theatre 'IT' girl, Idina Menzel, I was naturally eager to see Wicked when I heard it was coming to London. I can categorically state the I was not disappointed in my decision - so much so that after going to see it at the beginning of October, I am now booked to see it again next month. I wouldn't normally be quite this frivolous, but given that Idina Menzel will not be playing the lead after January 2007, I didn't feel I had much of a choice!
Wicked is based on the book 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West' by Gregory Maguire. Written in 1990, it tells the story of the aforementioned Wicked Witch when she was a child, and just how she became the evil character we all know from L. Frank Baum's novel. The basic...

...and settle in the woods of a small Pennsylvania community in a house Karen's husband owned. The house a traditional dwelling used by miners back at the turn of the 20th century is in much need of repair, but offers solace for Karen; while Sarah takes a dim view of things, and Emma embraces the move. For young Emma a sweet 8 year old it offers a chance of new friendship in the form of Mary who to everyone else is just an imaginary friend. It seems however that Addytown's newest arrivals have either caused or arrived at the time of a great awakening, things are about to become dramatically more chilling.
I first saw Wicked Little Things as it was then known about 16 months ago, and to be perfectly honest with you I got half way through and could not be bothered to proceed on, to me it was like every other low budget horror movie of the time...
