I have wanted to see this film for quiet a long time now so making the most of my last few days until my husband gets back and starts hogging the TV again I decided to buy and watch the film.
THE FILM
The film is about Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, who gets a job working in for a fashion magazine. Her job is the second assistant to Miranda, played by Meryl Streep. Andy has taken the job as she thinks it will get her meeting people and will result in her getting a good job in journalism which is what she really wants.
The job is a very demanding one as she is constantly on call for Miranda and starts to take its toll on her love life and her relationship with her friends.
Andy starts her new job with no fashion sense and just wears what she wants to, she is soon enticed into the world of fashion though and transforms her image with the help of her friend who also works for Miranda.
The film follows Andy through the tough times in her job and the toll it takes on her relationship.
Will Andy succeed at her job of being Miranda whipping girl and will she ever be able to please Miranda. Does she get the dream job in journalism she has always wanted or will she go back to her old self and her old life?
MY OPINION
I am glad that I watched this film as it was very good. The characters that Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep played were exceptionally good, they made me believe in their characters. Meryl Steep was brilliant as ever.
The story was very good and showed the hard and gruelling side of working for a top fashion magazine. I did not find myself getting bored during the film by it going on too much.
There are several funny scenes throughout the film which were not side splitting funny but they did make me chuckle and that just added to the film being a delight to watch.
The supporting characters in the film were also very good in their roles and each made their character believable and I was able to connect with them all.
I am not at all into this side of fashion but the film gave me a very good insight into what goes on in the making of a magazine and the amount of people it takes to put each edition together.
The film also has some famous people in the fashion world taking on small roles as themselves so if you watch closely enough you may be able to spot them.
The film was accompanied by a great soundtrack and all song played were all very appropriate.
