The Dark Knight is a superhero film based upon DC comics character Batman. The film was released on July 16, 2008 in Australia, on July 18, 2008 and on July 24, 2008 in UK. It was highly appreciated and was the second film to earn more than $500 Million in North American box office and the fourth film $1 billion from worldwide box office.
It tells the story of Bruce Wayne/Batman (Christian Bale) on his quest to subdue The Joker (Heath Ledger), a devious and lunatic criminal character, a new legacy to the batman saga. The Joker robs a bank with his accomplices and then tricks all his comrades into killing each other. Along with the district attorney Harvey Dent and his date Rachel Dawes and a lot of action Batman ultimately contains The Joker.
This is the sequel to the Batman Begins which marks the beginning of Batman saga. It is not typically a kid’s movie, and with high adrenaline bursts and intense action it is sure to appeal all sort of audiences. A very special characteristic of this sequel is ‘escalation’ i.e. extending the story from where Batman Begins ends. The design and clothing of ‘the Joker’ is carried out by noted designer Lindy Hemming.
Overall, The Dark Knight is one of the must see movie, it grossed the record of $67,165,092 on its first day, breaking the previous record held by Spiderman 3. The movie was directed and co-written by Christopher Rolan casting Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart as attorney with name Harvey Dent (Two-face) and Heath Ledger as The Joker. The film was distributed by Warner Bros.
