My condolences to the family and fans of Heath Ledger. I was a fan of his work as well, mostly in other films.
As for this Batman Installment, I wasnt quite as impressed. I think this film was highly over rated and I imagine it had a lot to do with the death of Heath Ledger.
Granted, this movie was packed with action as were all the other Batman films, but I think the hype is what ruined it for me. This is EXACTLY why I do not like when people give reviews that reveal too much about a movie (or book). By the time you watch it, basically every aspect of the film has been revealed to you and watching it isnt quite as exciting.
I also cant stand the fact that Batman has been played by so many different people over the years. Pick one, pay what it takes to get him back for the next one. I wasnt impressed with THIS Batman at all, and I can see why Heath Ledger got all the acclaim for the film, not that he was actually all that great in it, but because everyone else was pretty lame.
The Dark Knight is a perfect example of how the media can sell something no matter how good it is and actually convince people that they like it. If this movie didnt get the hype it got from the press (and if Heath Ledger didnt die, of course) it would have lasted no more than 2 weeks at the Box Office. This would have been another movie that made its living from rentals.

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD features. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you want to change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, this can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom.

I'm glad I'm not the only on who thinks so. I actauly found this film rather dull too, even at the cinema. Good to have an honest opinion.
