^^^Opinion^^^
The film was a really great watch and had some seriously spine chilling and thrilling moments. It has everything a murder mystery needs: a dramatic murder, several codes and anagrams and some really sinister characters and especially allows for lots of audience participation as you yourself can try to uncover the secret. I thoroughly enjoyed the film throughout and can’t really say there were any boring moments as it was very gripping and exciting. I do recommend adding the film to your collection if you haven’t already as it is worth the watch and even if you have read the book and know the story I am sure you will find it very satisfying as what you pictured in your head comes onto the big screen, it may even allow you to see it and some characters in a different perspective. Also as it has not stuck to the novel page by page you may find some interesting sub plots and events.
I appreciate that many out there may not be satisfied with the film and may be slightly prejudiced from the off as it may contain material, especially for someone who is strongly religious, that you may find offensive, which of course is expected, but I urge you to try and feel open minded and realise that no one is claiming this is the truth and to enjoy the cleverly structured mystery as it unfolds.
I always have enjoyed mystery films that do permit a certain amount of audience participation and give you some time to solve puzzles, anagrams and codes etc. until the characters in the film break them. This film certainly allows for this participation and gives members of the audience a good chance to try and work these out. I personally find this a very nice touch and is for me, unquestionably very enjoyable. Therefore I strongly recommend the film to anyone, like me, who enjoys trying to solve the mystery as the film progresses, likes to see all the pieces come together at the end and anyone who enjoys watching a first-class thrilling murder mystery.
^^^Acting^^^
The acting in the film was equally as thrilling. Tom Hanks as always was superb and gives the film a whole new realistic dimension to what ordinarily would be a very unrealistic motion picture. Tautou does a good job as the leading lady. Expect a fantastic performance from Sir Ian McKellen. There is also a nice cameo by Ian McKellen’s servant in the film. I have to say though the one acting performance particularly does stand out and on its own brings a chilling sinister edge to the film. Paul Bettany’s (Wimbledon) performance as Silas was breathtaking and it strongly enhances the effect of the film and thrill received from watching it.
To sum up, the acting in the film is exceptional and the film would really struggle without it. I thoroughly enjoyed most of the performances.
^^^Film Summary^^^
The film is a really exhilarating experience and I am sure you will enjoy trying to unravel the tightly bound secrets and mysteries throughout the film. I wonder, can you solve the Da Vinci Code before Langdon and Neveu? Definitely worth a look and at such cheap prices these days, why not add it to your collection?
^^^DVD Package^^^
The DVD is well presented and the front cover is to be honest a little corny, with Langdon and Neveu looking curiously in the same pose and direction. Although a nice touch to the cover is that the background is made up of lots of numbers and letters representing the presence of code the film. As for the back it is standard with information on length, special features, runtime, cast and synopsis etc. A nicely presented DVD.
^^^Special Features^^^
• Interactive movie menu • Interesting moving picture background to the menu • Subtitles (English, Czech, Dutch, Hindu and Italian) • Scene Selection • Movie Trailer • Multiple Languages (English, Czech and Italian)
^^^Picture and Sound Quality^^^
The picture quality was brilliant. The film was shot on 35mm film with a high quality camera and offers an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 which is very good. The quality to be perfectly honest is faultless and the cinematography is just as good and very creative. You are sure to notice and appreciate some brilliant shots in the film. As for the sound, Dolby Digital 5.1, it was also very good as far as sound goes although you do see a battery pack for a mic in one shot if you look carefully… whoops. I don’t often notice nor talk about the sound track but in this film it deserves a mention as it really gets you in the right mood and mindset for watching it and at times can be very thrilling, shocking and inspirational. It helps immensely when building mood, tension and atmosphere in this film and therefore I have to applaud the composers. I am not sure though if you bought the sound track it would be as good as you probably need the visual stimulation in order to feel the correct emotions that are being put forward by the film. In conclusion especially impressive picture and sound quality.
^^^DVD Summary^^^
The DVD presentation is in some parts corny but generally good and the DVD has the standard special features therefore it reasonably good.

Anyway I don't care about what's in fashion.
I discovered and read Dan Brown only when everyone was talking about it for years and the scandal was almost finished.
It could be I don't like neither to be "up-to-date" nor to do what everyone does: there's nothing more unpleasant to me than listen a song only because everyone says it's a "legend" or read a novel because "you have to know it!"...

I mean _The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail_ , written by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh and Henry Lincoln: it wasn't neither the first nor the last volume about assumed proofs in behalf of the intrigue plotted by the Church to hide the truth, but maybe it's the most known.
Dan Brown took the idea from this book for his _The Da Vinci Code_ and so he ...

The Da Vinci Code was probably one of the most controversial books of the modern day and so the movie was always going to be eagerly anticipated. The book was written by Dan Brown and was an international bestseller. I've read the book and really really enjoyed it and was excited above the movie. Of course, the subject matter is very controversial and although it is meant to be somewhat fictional I can see elements of truth in it. The film version ... ...follows the story of the book which I like and hasn't strayed too far away from the story which is nice. Tom Hanks stars as Robert Langdon, a professor of Symbology. He is the main character of the movie as it's up to him to solve the riddles and ultimately save himself. I like Tom Hanks in this. There's no doubting that he's a great actor but he definitely brings a fresh approach to this role. When I first heard that he was going to play this part ...

I am going to review the storyline from a fictitious point of view. There is much debate surrounding the factual accuracies and other criticisms due to the very contentious issues this film brings up. Whilst this is an important factor of the Storyline, one could write an entire book of that critique so i'm going to avoid it. The story ...

Because the new film Angels & Demons is due for release on May 2009 I watched the film The Da Vinci Code again. Basic introduction The Da Vinci Code was released in 2006, which was based on a popular novel in 2003, The Da Vinci Code. The novelist Dan Brown made his name overnight by the publishing. Advantages: Once you start watching you cant stop. Disadvantages: Very difficult to get in to but all is revealed
the whole film and the answers will be revealed, which is why i want to watch it again to understand it a bit more, as there are so many facts to take in and there are lots of twists and turns to the story and it keeps you guessing until near the end.
I will not pretend that i know the ins and outs of the davincicode i dont think any one really does because you will never know what is true or false but this is a fasinating insight to know not everything you were taught as a youngster is not actually the truth. The film does reveal an awful lot of facts which are true, and you dont really need any knowledge of the holy grail as a lot will be explained.
I have not read the book so i cannot compare but by all accounts it goes into much more detail so that is now on my things to do.

- Introduction -
I'd imagine most people will have heard of The DaVinciCode, whether that be the original Dan Brown novel or this, the Hollywood movie based on the novel. I got this movie on official DVD along with some others from a relative last year and although I had passed it on to my parents to watch last year sometime, I hadn't watched it myself and it sat in my DVD tower for some time, until I finally decided I just had to watch it recently lol. I was put off watching it on a Saturday night due to the long running time (nearly two and a half hours), since I prefer to watch a movie, if I do on a Saturday night, between 9-11pm so it would overrun that but anyway I I finally sat down and watched it last night. I hadn't read the novel, so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, other than that the story had alot to do ...

The DaVinciCode.
Dan Brown's multimillion best selling story about Jesus and The Holy Grail has finally been tailored for the big screen and now recently on DVD for the small screen, following in the tradition of many other adaptations such as The Godfather, Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter etc. Will The DaVinciCode be as good a movie as it was a book or will it just attempt to be a money making picture with no regard for quality or the book's principles?

DVD Description
Dr. Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks, FORREST GUMP) and cryptologist Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou, AMELIE) set out to uncover the truth about The Holy Grail, encountering a mysterious ancient society on the way. Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is on business in Paris when he is called to the Louvre, where a curator he was due to meet has been murdered. There he meets police cryptologist Sophie Neveu, the granddaughter of the murdered curator. A number of symbols and riddles have been found at the murder scene and the duo set about solving the complex mystery. However, Bezu Fache (Jean Reno, LEON)--the police officer in charge of the investigation--believes that Langdon is implicated in the killing. This leads to Langdon being chased by the French police as he attempts to solve the mystery by following secret clues found in the works of artist Leonardo Da Vinci. Langdon and Neveu escape to England to continue their search for clues in the mystery that has the possibility to upset the very foundations of Christianity, a search that brings them into conflict with Catholic organisation Opus Dei and their dangerous monk Silas (Paul Bettany, GANGSTER NO. 1). Screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (I, ROBOT) manages to transform Dan Brown's tremendously successful novel into a thrilling and fast paced script that is expertly directed by Ron Howard (APOLLO 13). The film was the target of criticism by the Roman Catholic Church but this didn't stop THE DA VINCI CODE becoming a worldwide smash hit.
