I have heard so much about this DVD and the book but to honest it didnt really appeal to me, its not the sort of thing i would go and get, but my partner came round one night and brought the dvd with him for me to watch, so i did.
He did worn me it is very difficult to get into it at the start.

The film, made in is based on the book of the same title by Dan Brown, and is directed by Ron Howard.

The characters..............

Professor Robert Langdon played by the awesome Tom Hanks who is a symbologist working in france.
Sophie Neveu is played by Audrey Tautou who is a cryptologist.
Other actors include Jean Reno, Ian Mckellen, Alfred Molina.

The Plot............................

Pro Robert Langdon is working in France and gets drawn in when the curator of the louvre gets murdered by a monk called Silas under the instruction from a mystery man only named as the Teacher, and they want to ask him questions about the markings and symbols found on and around his body, is only when comes in that he then discovers that infact he is the one and only suspect in the murder inquiry.

They have to escape and try and find the answers and the killer.

Sophie is in fact the Granddaughter of the of the murdered victim, and between them they have to crack the codes that her grand father has left them.
Having put the police off the scent they search the louvre for answers.
Upon finding some anagram messages they also find a key, which is a key to a safety deposit box at the Depository Bank of Zurich.

Upon entering the bank they are recognised by the security guards as both wanted for murder and calls the police.
The two have to enter a code aswell as the key to gain entry in the safety deposit box, Robert Langdon remembers seeing a series of numbers at the murder scene which of course where the numbers needed to open the box.

The box revealed a rosewood box which contains a cryptex which is a cylindrical container with five alphabetical dials which must be arranged in the correct sequence to spell out a 5-letter code word. If opened by force it would cause the chamber to break which hold vinegar and the script would be lost forever.

The manager of the Bank then walks in and informs them that the police have been called but he can offer them a safe route out, which reluctantly they do.

After they have been driving for a while the van stops and the manager of the bank the pulls a gun on them and demands the cryptex.
After fighting off the bank manger Langdon says he has a friend called Sir Leigh Teabing who may be able to help them.
Little did they know that the van they were in had a tracking device on it so were again followed by the police.

Here it is explained this whole thing is about finding the holy grail and finding the blood line to Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene. He also tells them of A millenarian sect called The Priory of Sion, which has kept for centuries the secret of that matter and will continue to do so. This is the sect that Silas is from, the monk that killed her grand father.

After police turn up Sir Leigh Teabing tells them he has a plane and then go onto London to try and figure out the rest of the puzzle. Upon reaching London they visit The Church Temple, where is believed that a group of Templars Knights are buried, and Sir Isaac Newton's tomb at Westminster Abbey, where are located some of the main keys to solve the Holy Grial's mystery.

Here they also find out the identity of the teacher and that he is behind the murder and other murders, this is the only way he knows how to uncover the secrets and reveal it to the whole world.

Whilst in Westminster Abbey Langdon secretly opens the cryptex and removes the contents before destroying the cryptex in front of the teacher.

The Holy Grail and its where abouts are discovered at the end of the film but i will leave you guessing as to what and where it is.

This is really only a brief review on what happens in the film but i hope i have pointed out the main points.

I found this film to be excellent and will defintely watch it again it is very interesting.
I really didnt think i would like this film but i do very much.

It is hard to get into at first but you must watch the whole film and the answers will be revealed, which is why i want to watch it again to understand it a bit more, as there are so many facts to take in and there are lots of twists and turns to the story and it keeps you guessing until near the end.

I will not pretend that i know the ins and outs of the da vinci code i dont think any one really does because you will never know what is true or false but this is a fasinating insight to know not everything you were taught as a youngster is not actually the truth. The film does reveal an awful lot of facts which are true, and you dont really need any knowledge of the holy grail as a lot will be explained.

I have not read the book so i cannot compare but by all accounts it goes into much more detail so that is now on my things to do.

This is a 12 rated DVD and runs for approx 2hrs 22mins.

This is just a single DVD so there are no extras as such, only to choose the languages you require, subtitles if needed and scene selection.

It seems that you did not really discuss the technical aspect of the film, and the same time the other features included in the DVD. It is worth reading if the 'extras' were added in the review for us to realised that there are interesting facts could be taken which cant be found in the wide screen.REY
