original and exciting, this film really stands out from the the blur of rubbish junk that is being released these last few years - released in 1996 this film shook the world of cinema and was release world wide - now, as a film enthusiast i tend to watch alot of films, and i can tell you now, this is a film that should not be missed on all accounts. Quirky, sarcastic and Original, this really is the film that shaped any of the modern supernatural TV programmes and films (charmed, supernaturtal etc.)
- basic plot outline -
In a catholic school in california, 3 sudents - known as the Bitches of eastwick, are very into the wiccan ways, but, when then new girl comes to the school and joins there "coven" , they realise they can actually do magic -
BASICALLY
"Four girls at a Los Angeles Catholic school form a coven of witches that cast spells on their classmates and each other. Their new powers overwhelm them, leading to an internal power struggle."
Sarah Bailey inherited her wiccan powers from her mother, who died when she was giving birth the sarah -
Nancy Downs is a goth. She worships the devil and wishes to have powers, when sarah comes into the scene, she takes on to much power and goes crazy -
Bonnie has burn marks all over her body and want to have magic to make her scars go away and to be beautiful (okay, who ever think that Nev Campbell is ugly please raise their arm) -
Rochelle is a black girl dealing with racism problems and wants to use magic to have revenge on the girl girl who is traumatising her life -
- my opinion -
this film has such originality and wiccan information it must have taken months to fill in all of these diferent aspects of magic and all of the little details that they have added in, such as tarot cards, candles, crystal balls, athames, wiccan rituals etc.
i was quite disapointed with the lack of effort put in by Robin Tunney ( Sarah ) and her lack of inspiration towards her character, but mabey that was her characters direction, posibly because she is so reluctant towards everthing they are to doing and all of the curses and things they are doing on people which would acctually explain slot, but they really should have added in and hint so they the audience could pick up this like a look of shock towards what they are doing -
i think that i film is worth watching, and it is one of those films which you can just watch again and again ( i seem to only reveiw them ) and again which is worth buying because films that you can only watch once a year are just not worth it and i watch " the craft " about 3-4 times a year which is abit, sad i know, but i just love films like that -

Advantages: Shows the struggle some kids go through today in schools, good effects for the time. Disadvantages: Bit too over-streached, typical "American, school, teen" film
