The Burning (DVD)

... For some reason, I'd always thought that The Burning was about witches. It wasn't until I spotted a copy in Vipco's Vaults of Horror (!) that I was actually able to watch the film and realise the error of my ways. The Burning is, of course, a slasher movie, through and through - and a very ... Read review

Don't Look. He'll See You....

Advantages: Plausible, believable and effective
Disadvantages: Comparable to Friday the 13th

...to play a prank on the caretaker at their summer camp. Sneaking into his cabin, whilst he sleeps, they leave a little surprise for him on the side. Once outside again, they bang loudly on his windows to wake him up, but such is his shock upon waking that a terrible accident occurs and the wretched man is engulfed in fire. Fearing that they will be held accountable, the five teenagers scurry back to their cabins and deny any knowledge of the incident. ...
...try and repair some of the damage, the doctors are unable to do anything and instead the man is discharged onto the streets.

Whilst the original summer camp has since closed down, a nearby camp is in full operation, and is once again packed with teenaged boys and girls. A group of older children embarks on a canoe trip up the river, where they eventually make camp along with their two adult instructors. Around the campfire on their ... more

A groovy slasher!

Advantages: Great FX, with a good build up of tension and scares
Disadvantages: Friday the 13th clone, with little to no plot

Some might argue that the Burning is nothing more than a "Friday the 13th" clone...and they'd be right, but I like it! I don’t know what it is. Maybe its it’s nastier tone, the dick and fart jokes, or the graphic scenes of gore but this has to be one of my favourite slashers of all time. The story is all too familiar - a group of teenagers at a lake-side summer camp decide to play a trick on Cropsy, the camp caretaker. Unfortunately for Cropsy and ...
...Cropsy seeks his revenge upon the children of the camp, chopping them to pieces with a pair of garden sheers. The effects in this movie are great, but that’s not surprising as they were provided by tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead, Friday the 13th). After the first half of this movie you’ll probably be thinking well this isn’t very gory, and then comes the raft scene. This infamous scene sees the killer dispatch about five teenagers in a matter of seconds ...

I Came across fitness instructor yogini hemalayaa on sky channel 288 I liked the workouts so purchased her DVD for something a little different. The whole DVD runs for 47min and Starts with an introduction then three 15 minute workouts all at different levels from beginner to intermediate. Exercise one will help you burn fat and lose weight in your buns and thighs. Exercise two is a cardio workout and will help you burn calories, exercise three is a bit more complicated but you can build up to it, its great for busy people or if you have just started exercising you can start off by completing one 15 minute routine 3 times a week to get you started then progress to 30 minutes and then the full routine if you wish. Dance the night away!

Advantages: motivating, good price, soundtrack, varied moves, unique, Coleen Nolan
Disadvantages: addictive

Christmas is generally a joyful time of the year, but then following that festive day is that burden of getting back into shape. People generally put on weight during Christmas, as there is an awful lot of food on the go! With the aim to lose weight, I went browsing for fitness DVDs on-line, just before Christmas. There was a list of DVDs on the HMV website which were being released on Boxing Day. One of these was titled 'Disco Burn' with Coleen Nolan. I always wanted to buy her original fitness DVD but never did quite get round to this, so I decided this was the one I wanted. It sounded quite interesting, like a cheesy dance DVD. So when Boxing Day arrived I popped into town (and queued for an awfully long time) to purchase my DVD, along with another fitness one. So who is Coleen? For those of you who do not know, she is a TV ...

Intelligence Is Only Their Job

Advantages: Some funny moments
Disadvantages: It just didn't seem to have a point, not the best acting and not the best direction

Here is another film of 2008, I really did not know what to expect when watching this film, it was literally the last film on the shelf at our rental place that I haven't seen and they were all out of Tropic Thunder which I really wanted to watch, so I have decided to give it a go. Burn After Reading was something of a mystery to me before watching this, I had no idea of the plot before plopping it into my DVD player and still afterwards I don't really understand the plot, and it did seem like a waste of time even making this film because there was no point, that is not saying I didn't enjoy myself however. The Plot CIA analyst Osborne Cox (Malkovich) has just got fired from his job, because according to them, he has a drinking problem. So with nothing else to do with his time, he decides to write his memoirs, which his wife Katie ...
