Review of The Hole (Wide Screen) by whitewiner

Advantages: Original fast-paced intelligent thriller
Disadvantages: Cockroaches

...Deep psychological thriller that draws you in to spectate as the chilling, dark story characterised by its never-ending suspense of unexpected twists and turns unfolds, and you are invited to watch as the four characters' personality traits unfold delivering some suprising and unappetising scenes, it is tainted with foreboding and a sense of pure evil unwrapping before your very eyes.. For me the film reminded me both of 'Shallow Grave' (the character portrayls, black humour and unexpected happenings)and 'The Omen' (Evil people and their betraying facades)This intelligent, well-paced film itself centres around four teenagers, all pupils at a rather typical english public school whom decided to miss their geography field trip and hide-out in a 2nd World War bunker, it is here that the nightmare begins and the laughter stops. Run Chicken, Run!
Review of Chicken Run (Animated) (Wide Screen) by poodu

Advantages: Lovely animation and fantastic script
Disadvantages: Not very long

...I admit that I had initial reservations about this film. I have seen the Wallace and Gromit short films and loved them. I was worried that perhaps Nick Park had bitten off more than he could chew with this film. However, I was totally amazed by what happened! The film eases you in with nice easy jokes and images. You can't help but be impressed by the animation! The story revolves around a chicken farm in 1950's Yorkshire, run by the evil Mrs Tweedy and the dim-witted Mr Tweedy. The heroine of the story is Ginger (voiced by Julia Sawalha), the plucky hen who attempts to organise the escape plans for the mottley crew of assorted hens. After many attempts at escaping and many days spent in solitary confinement that is the coal bunker, Ginger is running out of ideas...until one night, a rooster comes sailing over the horizon and crash lands... Claustrophobia and Cockroaches - The Hole
Review of The Hole (Wide Screen) by Saul_Walker

Advantages: Great Sombre Film, Good Acting by everyone
Disadvantages: No for those who like everything pink and rosy

...as it seems and it isn’t really until the last quarter of an hour of the film that the reality of the situation is revealed. The ending is also a real sting in the tail and leaves you feeling some contempt for the certain characters in the film. The setting of the bunker also adds a dark note to the film giving a claustrophobic feel and a dirty, dank place for the movie to truly unfold. If the film was say shot somewhere less forbidding the movie wouldn’t have had the same appeal. Also to say this film can be labelled more as a horror is a true misinterpretation, because at no point does the film lend itself to murderous evil or serial killing. The film is in fact not designed to make you jump out of your seat but instead what occurs should be treated as a cumulative effect and the story in ‘The Hole’ slowly draws upon you... Read review
