I brought this film off Love film last week for £5 as I've been meaning to see this but as I found it for this price I decided to buy the DVD. I thought the film was really well done. The filming is done in a Blanc Noir way and it is a very dark and gritty story. I didn't really know what to expect of the film as I didn't read anything about it before I watched it. It was pretty surprising to see Jodie Foster play this sort of character. The film is very sinister the scene of the beating in the tunnel is especially horrid and those with a weak stomach should be warned. I'm ok with that sort of violence I like horror films like Saw but it was still abit cringing to watch. The scene is filmed in many ways. You see the camera from Erica view at the start, the camera showing everyone in the shot then a shot from a mobile phone as one of the gang member films the attack. This is where you see the attack with the pole on David's face not pleasant! I was quite surprised also to see after this Erica then gets beaten her self. The men thrash her into walls and even kick her face. Is this a reality of what happens out on the streets now?? It is a scary thought. There are several other death scenes in the film but most of them you didn't see as much violence as the first one. It was amazing though how Erica then becomes traumatised into believing she has to take revenge. Even though most of the criminals deserved it you can't really go round shooting people lol.
I thought Jodie foster acted well for the part. She has a great representation anyway but this was a very difficult character as she goes through one emotion to the next. I also like to see Naveen Andrews in the film only if it was for the first 20 minutes. After watching his role in Lost he has obvious done well to go into films especially starring along a pro like Jodie Foster. The cast was picked well. Also the character of Terrance Howard was played well . I liked how the film had two quite high respected actor/ess and then a few recognisable ones. The certificate is right for the film with the violence used.

...films, I saw her for the first time last month when I watched the film The Brave One. I knew about her, of course, I don't watch many films but I read about them and it's not possible not to notice Jodie Foster as she's a media darling. For every good Neil Jordan film, there seem to be two or three bad ones and sadly this effort falls into the latter camp. He's a director capable of great subtlety and pathos. But once in a while he turns into the worst kind of hack director, using every cliché in the book. So it is with this film where Erica and David have the most perfect and syrupy relationship ...

Being a keen book-worm, I normally pop into the uber-cheap 'The Works' stores that seem to retail books at silly prices. Just before Christmas, I paid a visit and found the full range of Justice League animated DVD's on sale at £1.99 per DVD, which in my view was a bit of a bargain. This is my review of one of the series, 'The Brave and the Bold'. Also available are : -
Secret Origins
Justice on Trial
Paradise Lost
Starcrossed the Movie
I managed to pick all 5 up for less than £10.

I would certainly recommend this film to those who like action, crime and gangster movies. It is a very action packed based film with a lot of creative filming techniques and metaphors. I really enjoyed watching it and think it was well filmed. The film is very gory and the language is quite strong seeing as it's a 18 I wouldn't let children under this age watch it. You can buy a copy on DVD for under £10 and £8.99 on Play which comes with a commentary with Director and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Its been a while since I wote a Buffy review, I think I've had a few withdrawal symptons from not reviewing any Buffy episodes for a while!
The latest in this line of purely pointless character profile dvds is for Xander, the 'heart' of Buffy and the 'one who sees everything'. He is considered, after Buffy, to be probably the most vital character to the show and the one that creator Joss Whedon says he personally identifies with most. As a character he is funny yes, but also sweet, brave and just wonderful. You can't not love Xander really.
Where this dvd succeeds where similar ones failed is that it does actually provide a good picture of the character. His funniest comedy is here, but it also gives a good range of his episodes, shows his evolution as a character and includes some of his most pivotal moments. My only real ...
