the birdcage is an OK film, i wouldnt call it hilarious, or really funny! the film seems to take a while to get going, so the best time to watch it is when your in the mood to watch a LONG plot that finally unfolds to a rather funny ending. Robin Williams is quite good for the film, however he isnt totally beleivable, he kind of seems 'out of place' in this sort of film. on the other hand the whole hilight of the film is Nathan Lane who brings it to life, he is brilliant and at times really funny with his 'drama queen' acting. as you might of read from other reviews this films plot is different really but is similar to 'meet the fockers' its about a gay couple (the goldmans, Lane and Williams) who have a son, and hes getting married to the daughter of a normal family (the keeleys, Hackman). But the daughter has said that the Goldmans are a perfectly normal family. With Nathan Lane being such a drama queen you can tell theres going to be problems when they all get together for dinner, even the gay cleaner has to put some clothes on and get in on the act. Like i said its not the best film in the world but i would say its worth at least one watch, but dont rush out to buy the DVD, the only 'Special Feature' is the theatrical trailer which just shows all the best bits from the film. The usual scene and language selections can be found, and its really easy to navigate, so unless you really enjoy watching the film or just want to add to a DVD collection i wouldnt recommend it!

I remember seeing the original La cage aux folles film at the university. I absolutely thought the film hilarious. Any remake would never be as funny. Thanks...Paul
