I feel I have been robbed with this dvd. Their is not much of a plot, the love scene was one minute long, the director a first time newcomer producer.
Information regarding the actors featured here as follows:
Jason Statham British born actor who screename is Terry in this film, starred in Loch Stock and two smoking barrels, revolver, snatch, and many other films. He is a hard man figure, who really does take well to the task in this film. Without him this film would have failed without him imho.
Saffron Burrows, who plays Martine, is a 6ft tall model type woman who has a very cool head, beautiful. Has played roles in the films Troy, Reign over me among some others.
Craig Fairbrass who played Dan Sullivan also is involved as a hitman type role for one of the factions involved in the story, who in the film is employed by a loan shark criminal gangster to terrorise victims and get his job done.
Its a British film, based on a true story supposedly. It's the true story of the 1971 Baker Street bank robbery.
The film highlights the criminal backgrounds of the robbers, and the people behind the robbery as criminals, drug traffickers, brothel owners and prostitution participants in one form or another. The film also illustrated the civil rights movement using screenames such as Michael X and Hakeem as obvious civil rights leading figures during this movement in world history.
What happens basically a woman with the screen name Martine and Terry and his friends from London get involved in a misleading attempt at a bank robbery where it is suggested that nothing will go wrong,
The London based gang are led to believe that money is the only motive behind the robbery. The gang cut there way through a shop floor and dig under the floors that lead into the bank Lloyds Tsb safe deposit vaults.
The gang communicate via ham radio, and their conversations are at some stage interecepted by a ham radio amateur listener, who informs the Old Bill about a suspected robbery in action.
What the lead character, Terry does not initially realise is that they are being set up to take part by Martine, who is interested only in obtaining photographs, porn filmings of people in high positions of government and the Royal family among others.
Bent policemen feature as the innocent robbers get away with the crime. Some of the robbers are murdered, other people involved in some form or another also get murdered. The main characters live to fight another day.
The film was done at Pinewood studios in Hertfordshire, the stages used are in London based on a nineteen seventies image of London.
Verdict, a cheap low budget, typically it compares to Eastenders or Minder as it used to be. The quality of the actors overall was poor. Some could have done well if the budget and producer combination was higher quality. Some of the characters who are shown in the movie are seen at the beginning and never seen again, others are seen at the beginning and towards the end.
There is no real skeleton plot here, it appears that the film has all been made up as the producer went along.
The sex scenes can be compared to a carry on film, in this respect. There are images of nudity though the womens parts are covered up, and the film rolls on to the next scene. The robbers use a nuclear type of gas fire flame and pneumatic drill to dig the way to the bank safe, which i find a ridiculous part of the film.
