The Ballad of the Sad Cafe
A classic work that has charmed generations of readers this collection assembles Carson ... more
McCullers' best stories including her beloved novella "The Ballad of the Sad Cafe." A haunting tale of a human triangle that culminates in an astonishing brawl the novella introduces readers to Miss Amelia a formidable southern woman whose cafe serves as the town's gathering place. Among other fine works the collection also includes "Wunderkind " McCullers' first published story written when she was only seventeen about a musical prodigy who suddenly realizes she will not go on to become a great pianist.
Steiger (In the Heat of the Night) - are the stars of Merchant Ivory Productions' extraordinary 1991 film directed by the British actor Simon Callow (A Room with a View, Four Weddings and a Funeral). The Ballad Of Sad Cafe, based on the novella by Carson McCullers is both a grotesque black comedy and a prime slice of 'Southern Gothic' set in a poverty-stricken rural community dominated by the curious, androgynous character of 'Miss Amelia'. A forceful personality with a mysterious past, she runs the town's only cafe and controls the locals through the careful distribution of her own secretly brewed 'hooch'. But Miss Amelia's eccentric existence comes under threat from the unheralded arrival of a hunchbacked dwarf, who claims kinship with her, and by the reappearance of the husband she rejected on their wedding night and who has come back to wreak vengeance on the woman he once tried to love.

...** Introduction **
I am lucky enough to work in what is claimed to be one of the ?trendy? parts of London. The place they call Clapham. Whether it is actually ?trendy? is another story all together. However, luckily for me I am surrounded by bars, cafés, restaurants and of course the good old McDonalds or two! But this also means we are spoilt for choice. When we plan lunch we have to start planning from the morning. Indecisiveness is our middle name! But after a while we always break the list down to one or two favourite locations. And Perfect Blend is one of them.
** Perfect Blend **
Opening in 2008 Perfect Blend is a chameleon, it changes it atmosphere throughout the day very cleverly, from café to restaurant and then to a social bar. The second to be opened of its kind in London it really does stand out from...

Advantages: Authentic Coffee, Clean, tidy premises, 1st class ambience and atmosphere Disadvantages: Food range is not so great value.
...Caffe Nero is a leading Coffee store Retail Outlet located in many high street, town center, and Airport Lounge venues across England, wales and Scotland.
The company sells, Coffee as its main product. Also they stock Tea, cold refreshments, panini sandwiches, cookies, crisps, Chocolates, cakes, and sweets.
What I find that makes cafe nero different to other coffee Retail Outlet's is almost a combination of excellent Coffee, and a high standard of Customer Service.
The Music in the background of the store is subtle and light. This allows people to read a newspaper, to socialise with friends, family, or to enjoy a relaxing cup of Coffee in relative peace and quiet. The atmosphere is what makes caffe nero a pleasant and welcoming place to visit.
The staff seem to be team organised. I have seen Table's been cleared...

...This is for Jane47, it's her fault, all her fault that I am posting this... : )
But she never makes me feel sad, her effect leans much more towards making me experience hysterical fits of laughter as it happens!
Bless you Jane!
The poem was originally written in spanish, so I am including the spanish version below the english one.
Sadness
There is a sort of sadness that springs like saturated water,
And turns into a fountain, unwillingly;
It is accompanied by a delicate fairy
Who wishes to speak, unsuccessfully;
It is a dumb sadness, which has no hearing,
No mouth, no eyes, no sound and no faith;
A hard sadness, without any meaning,
That makes bubbles of hunger and thirst;
It is a sadness without complaints or tears,
Which hatches and dies without a known reason;
It attacks every desire, every breath, every...
