Ok, here’s my challenge from SeasonTicketless, as if I would back down on a challenge <g>, still here we go.
My review as you can see is on the Disney film, ‘The Aristocats’. A classis by all means and well worth being wrote about. The famous Walt Disney Corporation, the pneumonia behind which everyone knows, makes it. They make fantastic children’s cartoons and are one of the biggest corporations in the world. Not forgetting you can visit them for a holiday too! But back to this fantastic film…
The Aristocats was made back in 1970 and the writing credits were from Ken Anderson, Larry Clemmons, Eric Cleworth, Vance Gerry, Tom McGowan (III), Julius Svendsen, Frank Thomas (I) and Ralph Wright (Information taken from IMDB.com).

What’s it about I hear you asking? Well, shame on you if you have no idea as it’s a classic but still I shall digress. It’s about a Beautiful cat named Duchess who has 3 kittens (Berlioz, Marie and Toulouse) and they live in a rich house with their owner a very old woman. When the butler finds out that they are set to inherit everything and he shall get nothing he plots to get rid of them so he will be sole heir. This leads to a great adventure and romance in the name of Thomas O’Malley and ginger Alley cat. There’s music and love and fun on the way and he helps them get back home and sort the problem of the horrid Butler, with a little help of some friends on the way. Don’t want to talk about the ending in case you haven’t seen the film and do watch it, but will say this much, as with all Disney films it has a beautiful happy ending (As all Children’s cartoons should have).
Where Can I Buy It? At Amazon (www.amazon.co.uk) the video stocks for £13.49 and the DVD stocks for £18.99. You can buy a used copy on Amazon from £5.00. I looked about and compared prices and found you could buy this video for £11.95 at Splash DVD (www.splashdvd.com) £14.95 also at Splash DVD (www.splashdvd.com).
How Available Is It? Looking around most places had stock or it was on order and expected very soon, so it’s widely available. You can buy it in High Street Stores such as WHSmith’s, Tescos, HMV but I recommend online, as it’s cheaper.
Certification… As with all Disney Cartoons, the certification is ‘U’. Meaning Universal and is suitable for all the family.
Film Length and other details… According to my VHS copy of this film, its running time is 76 minutes long. It’s made in Dolby Stereo and is a colour film too. The box has a beautiful picture on the front of the whole cat gang with the evil Butler in the background and is a beautiful purple and pink colour. You have the write writing at the top stating the films title ‘The Aristocats’ and right at the top in gold is ‘Walt Disney Classics’ The back of the box has a small synopsis about the film, a bar code and the licensing laws. There’s also another picture of the car family and a small insert of the cat band.
My Final Conclusion… It’s a classic and as classics go it’s hard to say anything bad about them. Being about cats of course means I love it all the more. I loved it so much I have actually had a cat named Marie after one of the kittens and also my old Persian BK was nicknames Toulouse as he looked so much like him! The songs are great, my favourite being, ‘Everybody Want to Be A Cat’. It has some great characters too. It’s suitable for the whole family and my daughter Charisma recently watched it and it held her attention span and she’s only 2! I really recommend this film and give it a 10 out of 10!
