I am reviewing the movie The Amityville Horror
I watched this movie last night on television and I have to admit I was a little creeped out. And apparently it is a true story. So I had the hebbi geebies throughout.
The Story
A family decide to buy a house in the country, which is a great bargain, only to find out after that the previous family had been murdered in the house. That's the reason for the cheap sale. They decided to keep the house as it's only a house, Houses don't murder people, people murder People. All goes ok in the house until the husband starts acting weird and the daughter is seeing things. What now follows is 28 days of sheer terror for the family.
The Cast: Ryan Reynolds plays George, the new man of the house after he married a widow with three children. The children are only getting used to him as the father didn't pass away that long ago. Ryan played the husband who started acting very strange and creepy, and he was sensational. If you seen Van Wilder and then watch this, you would never believe they were the same person. Ryan transformed from a loving husband to an evil murderer being possessed. It was very scary to watch. He was excellent. Melissa George played Georges wife Kathy, the mother of three. She was brilliant also, she transformed to a modern day mother of three, to a hero, rescuing her family from the house. She investigated the history of the house and found out some creepy stuff. She was a great actress. Kathy's daughter also played an excellent role - she was playing a child who is seeing a little girl, and doing some very scary things. The little girl was very brave to do some of the stunts in the movie
The Story
Well as it's a true story, then to me it's a scary story, I only see horrors as movies and nothing more, but when it's a horror that is a true story and that them horrific things really happened to someone, it sends shivers through my spine. The movie was excellent, it was defiantly one to watch, but I would watch it with someone next time, there were some gruesome parts and very disturbing parts. And what made it worse for me : the murders took place on my birthday 13 november. Aggghhhh A house haunted by murdered spirits out to kill again. Ghosts walk the halls, voices through the walls, murder on its way… Be Aware.
The Special Effects
The special effects were briliant, they created ghosts, spirits, blood and gore, Devils and deamons. The camera work and effect were unbelieveable. they were scary and made me jump.
