Advantages: Complete story of only fools, neat lay out, excellent viewing Disadvantages: Still fairly expensive
The Complete Only Fools and Horses chronicles every single episode from the seven series', as well as each feature length and Christmas special. It is extremely well laid out, in chronological order, so that the show can be watched from start to end with no fuss.
The DVDs are all top quality, the sound and pictures are excellent so viewing pleasure is not inhibited in any way. The packaging is also small enough to fit on to shelves, something not always possible with other box sets.
The only downside was, when it first came out, the price. Nearing £200 it was a lot of money for a show that doesn't run anymore, even one as revered as this. Since then, however, the price has fallen by half and so is very much the bargain for any only fools/comedy fan.

Advantages: great fun and lots of laughter Disadvantages: not enough episodes
Only fools and horses began its life in 1981, penned by John Sullivan, who also wrote Citizen Smith.
The seven series, (and 19 Christmas specials) lasted through till 2003 and revolved around two main characters, Derek (Del)Trotter, (played by David Jason) and his younger brother Rodney, (played by Nicholas Lyndhurst), they lived at 23 Nelson Mandela house, a block of high rise flats in Peckham and drove a bright yellow three wheeled van with 'Trotters Independent Traders' painted on it.
Derek, or Del boy as everyone knew him, was a trader of sorts, ducking and diving through life, buying and selling anything he and his brother Rodney could get there hands on.
Rodney, however, was the more law abiding of the two, always being dragged into Dels tricks.
Other Characters
Grandad ...
Advantages: hours of laughter Disadvantages: none at all
Great value for money!!!! Who could have realised what this programme would become back in 1981! Originally only planned for one series and about to be scrapped when strikies and cutbacks at the bbc forced programme schedulers to repeat the first series, which is when the country fell in love with Del boy (David Jason), Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Grandad (Lennard Pierce). The advantages of having the complete box set are huge, because somehow you always seem to remember incidents and episodes which you just have to see, and with the box set you can. Includes every episode including the christmas specials. As you follow the brothers journey from rags to riches, you also notice the friendship, scenarios and characters which all seem so real, maybe due to the fact that they were all based on people that creator John Sullivan knew ...
