Advantages: Awesome episodes - a classic t.v. sitcom produced to be as the original was Disadvantages: not sharper image, no extras
a cocktail medicine to treat homicidal maniacs, which turns peiple into homocidal mainiacs and puts it in a coke can so no-one would drink it. Meanwhile heavy rains result in London flooding and the boys are trapped in the house with a homicidal, axe-wielding Mr. Balowski.
A fantastic 4 stars even though in my opinion one of the very best British sitcoms ever written. It is rather disappointing that the visual quality is poor and just as blurry as the original t.v. broadcast. Still the episodes are amazing and it's great that I can watch these again given that we no longer have a video and only a dvd player - i love this retro series so much I had to buy the second series too!
Thank you for reading, best wishes, mintz x x ...
Advantages: Fantastic storyline, soundtrack, anal and human actors Disadvantages: Saw a crew member on an old version of the film that has since been corrected
I first saw this film when it wasn video. As a large fan of horses, it was a beautiful thing to watch. I now also own it on DVD.
The soundtrack, composed by Danny Elfman was released for a limited about of time, and i am also very proud to own it. The music to the film beautifully suits it with an arrangement of classical instruments, a pleasure to listen to in it's own right.
The film starr's many great actors [and actresses] such as Sean Bean, starring as BlackBeauty's breeder and first owner.
The footage and older camera filming adds perfectly to the timed setting of the late 1800's.
I have heard people complain in the past that BlackBeauty has an english voice. My view is, if the film was created in america, he'd have an american voice. No difference really!
The bond between Joe, the clumsy, slightly thick stable ...
Most people will know the classic children's novel by Anna Sewell that tells of the adventures of a horse named BlackBeauty. I had enjoyed this as a child myself and will definitely share the book with my daughters when they are a bit older. In the meantime though, they have been watching the film that tells the classic story. There has been a more recent film made in 1994, but this is the original that was made in 1971 and stars Mark Lester (of Oliver fame). This film also manages to remain pretty true to the events in the book which always pleases me greatly.
BlackBeauty is an enjoyable and very clever story. It starts with when BlackBeauty is born and belongs to a small boy called Joe (Mark Lester). Unfortunately his father runs into financal difficulties and loses the farm along with BlackBeauty to the mean and nasty local ...
