An irreverent series, THE ADAM AND JOE SHOW was renowned for its concise and hilarious spoofs of films where stuffed toys and action figures portrayed the characters. The spoofs included TITANTIC, SHOWGIRLS and THE ENGLISH PATIENT, as well as television shows such as ER and FRIENDS. The duo’s unique brand of humour helped create a strong cult following. The release contains selected sketches from four series of THE ADAM AND JOE SHOW.

Who are Adam and Joe?
******************************

Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish are two friends who met at Westminster School, they are fans of Star Wars, good records, busking and Bobby De Niro.
They currently work on XFM, presenting a saturday morning radio show.

What ia the Adam and Joe Show?
****************************************

Well its was a channel four based comedy show, written and presented by adam and Joe. It ran for 4 series'. It was supposed to be filmed in Adam and Joes Brixton bedsit and consisted of lots of sketches of varying length, some just a few seconds, others a few minutes. They enjoyed filming (then) current films using toys. Life the magnificent spoof of Saving Private Ryan, which is the whole film condensed into 5 minutes filmed with such toys as ET and various cuddly toys.

In the year of 2004 this fine best of DVD was released onto the market, the RRP was £19.99 but I picked it up for £3.99 more recently.

Whats the Adam and Joe Show DVD?
*********************************************

Well its basically the 4 series' of Adam and Joe condensed intto a couple of hours on 1 fine DVD, eacgh series is presented seperatly on 80's twinged menu screen, the teletext one springs instantly to mind. The DVD features many funny clips, including "Toyspotting" , Adam and Joe busking in Covent Garden, ending up with a street robbery, the fantastic "Bobby De Niro song", and the even better popping candy in the mouth with a can of Coke. It sounds pretty peurile but it's far better than that.

Any extras?
***************

Yes a shed load, they are as follows;

1.THE STORY OF ADAM & JOE, this is a funny look back at Adam and Joe, how they first met, and theres lots of clips of their early school and college work, with such (now) famous people as Louis Theroux. The high light is them going into a shop and breaking items, then seeing how the staff react.

2. BAAADAD REVISITED, Adams dad, Baadad reviews a load of records goes to Ibiza and generally acts far younger than his age suggests, again very funny.

3. THE BEST OF VINYL JUSTICE, adam and Joe would visit peoples houses and go through their record collections and generally slag them off, while wearing police uniforms.

4. ADAM & JOE'S WORLD OF SOUND, this is one of my faveourite extras its just lots of clips from their music based sketches, (Goal, Goal Goal, footi, footie, footie) and some brilliant radio wind ups, where they would phone up talk sDJ's and basically act wierd, very very funny.

5. And finally theirs 2 Ken Korda Montages, Ken Kordaa making it in the Movies and Making the Band

Should I buy it?
*******************

Yes, it's a steal from Play.com at just £5.99 and if you look around high street DVD chains you'll be able to pick this up at amazingly reduced prices.

Anything else?
******************

Yes I also bought this for a friend, for his birthday, last weekend 5 of us al lsat round watching the DVD, when we were watching the Bobby De Niro song, one of my mates asked who the song was about, and another mate replied "Al pacino, and he meant it.

* If you hadn't guessed the review title is a line from the "Bobby De Niro" song.
