its bone-chilling realism. Thehorrifying story, drawn from a series of true events, is consideredby many to be one of the greatest thrillers of all time and alandmark of terror that has influenced countless films in itswake. Iconic in popular culture, its menacing evil character,Leatherface, will forever be one of the most recognizable screenvillains. With 2003's remake of The Texas ChainsawMassacre, starring Jessica Biel, the filmmakers at PlatinumDunes brought new life and vigor to the horror movie genre, whilealso honoring its predecessor. Now the company continues on thatpath with a startling prequel, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: TheBeginning, which details the beginnings of the Hewitt clan andexposes their psychotic idea of family fun. It's 1969. The conflict in Viet Nam has exploded to immeasurableproportions, and 18-year-old Dean Hills (Taylor Handley) number isup. Dean's brother Eric (Matthew Bomer), who has already seen hisshare of combat, plans to take Dean to enlist in his beloved MarineCorps in hopes of keeping an eye on him rather than letting himtake his chances at the local induction center. Instead, he plans toconfront Eric about dodging the draft after the boys and theirrespective girlfriends, Bailey (Diora Baird) and Chrissie (JordanaBrewster) head across Texas for a final fling of serious fun. I have to say this movie is a lot better than a lot of so called horror movies these days. I won't say it was scary; but I can tell you that it had my adrenaline pumping in the scenes where Leatherface chases Chrissie down with a chainsaw; and in some of the scenes where she is nearly caught.

As I said before, the movie isn't scary, but I can tell you from my personaly experience that when watching it, the chasing scenes, all that blood and gore, including the amount of time Chrissie got caught had me sitting on the edge of my seat, adrenaline pumping, cursing, shouting and shrieking and I'm normally not noisy when watching a movie.

I can tell you that you will definitely enjoy this movie. There are not many decent horrors out there; and this certainly qualifies as one. This DVD is worth your money.

I thought that this film was really good. It provides a detailed and gruesome prequel to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, though it relates more to the remake than the original. It shows how the Texas Chainsaw Massacre ... ...was the acting, I like when movies don't have well known actors, adds to the realism. The gore was pleasing and in a decent amount, but you can never have too much gore in a horror film. There weren't many shocks in this film, so if you want to be scared out your seat this film will disappoint. However it is still horrific in places. The DVD was purchased from Ebay for less than a fiver, but it was only a rental copy version. So there were no special ...

...same production team behind 2003's Texas Chainsaw remake were at again, this time with a prequel, my initial thought was that it sounded pretty compelling.
Just how did Thomas Hewitt end up as a rampaging killing machine with a flair for gruesome deaths and torture? How did he end up with a fetish for wearing the macabe 'masks' carved from his victims flesh?
And just how did he get his hands on that damn chainsaw?
This film answers these questions ... ...in my opinion. The early years of leatherfaces' life are simply glossed over in a montage of images during the opening credits. I would have liked to have seen them take a look at his childhood, how he was affected by his deformity and those surrounding him. It seems the producers simply wanted to cut to the chase and the gore quite literally with this movie. This kind of disappoints as it would have been interesting if they had had delved deeper ...

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006)
Starring: Jordana Brewster, Cyia Batten, Diora Baird, Matthew Bomer
Directed By: Jonathon Liebesman
The producers behind the 2003 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre deliver us with this impressive prequel.
On a road trip, two brothers and their girlfriends get into a road accident which forces them to call the local sheriff to the scene, when the sheriff turns out to be the deranged and homicidal Charlie ... ...a terrying trip. Hewit kidnaps them and takes them back to a secluded home, where the monstrous Leatherface is getting to improve and refine his 'abilities' . The group are in for a horrific night filled with terror as the only escaped victim, Chrissie, tries to rescue the others.
Cram packed with terrifying moments of suspense and grisly gore scenes, this prequel is no less disturbing than the first. More graphic and extreme than Saw and Hostel ...

DVD Description
Though it's spawned a handful of sequels, it took more than 30 years for Tobe Hooper's ever-potent horror classic to get an origin story. Why is Leatherface so angry? Whose face does he wear as a mask? How did his family get their taste for human flesh? A 2003 remake revisited the original film, painted with post-millennial gloss by former music video director Marcus Nispel. For his second feature, director Jonathan Liebesman (DARKNESS FALLS) follows suit.
The film opens with the 1949 birth of the child who would become Leatherface--to an obese slaughterhouse worker. She dies during childbirth and the deformed baby is later found among refuse by his adoptive mother. Twenty years later, Chrissy (Jordana Brewster), Dean (Taylor Handley), Bailey (Doira Bird), and Eric (Matthew Bomer) are driving cross country. A run-in with some bikers leads to an intervention by crazed cannibal clan leader Hoyt (R.Lee Ermey), who has just killed the sheriff of the dwindling Texas town and taken on the mantle himself. The massacre is about to begin!
