Terrahawks - Volume 8. ===================
Introduction. Created by Gerry Anderson and set in the year 2020, we follow the Terrahawks. The Terrahawks defend the Earth from 'Zelda' and her evil minions.
Creator: Gerry Anderson Producer: Gerry Anderson Screenwriter: Gerry Anderson Executive Producer: Gerry Anderson
Synopsis The human race is under threat of extinction by the evil Zelda and her minions of killer robots. She has travelled from her home world of Guk and set up her base on mars. Firstly though she has had to destroy the earth base that was there. She now aims all of her destruction towards earth in the hope of clearing the planet for her own race. The UN High Command appoints Doctor 'Tiger' Ninestein to equip and train an elite fighting force to defend the world against the evil Zelda and her robotic aggressors.
They are called TERRAHAWKS. The team is made up of: 'Tiger' Ninestein himself, Captain Kate Kestrel Captain Mary Falconer, Lieutenant Hiro, Lieutenant Hawkeye, Sergeant Major Zero, Space Sergeant 101 And of course the memorable 'Zeroids'.
They establish their base, Hawknest, in South America they begin developing and implementing their sophisticated weaponry which will now be used in defence of earth. And hopefully the destruction of Zelda.
Episodes ~~~~~ 31. FIRST STRIKE The Terrahawks get caught in a trap from a badly designed attack plan.
32. TERRABOMB Zelda manages to get a bomb inside the Hawknest with disastrous consequences.
33. DOPPELGANGER Zelda gives life to statues and then commands them to destroy the Terrahawks.
Although Cry UFO is next on this DVD in actual fact on TV it was the penultimate episode aired, there was apparently some confusion when copying the episodes over to DVD. But they where pretty much stand alone episodes anyway so there is no real continuity problems.
38. CRY UFO A UFO is used by Zelda to trap some of the Terrahawks.
Opinions I remember watching these as a child. All of the characters faces where easily spotted straight away. The stories are standard Gerry Anderson and the obvious connections with his other series Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, Thunderbirds, fireball Xl5, Stingray, Joe 90 etc.. Are clearly seen. The animation even today will be loved by kids, of all ages ahem. The colour and crispness qualities of the episodes are perfect. With only one disc you still get a lot of stuff to look through from the episodes themselves through biographies, profiles, scripts etc.
Well worth the money if only for the trip down memory lane and a journey through nostalgia.
