The first Terminator is the story of a robot from the future sent back to 1984 to destroy Sarah Connor, the mother of an unbord freedom fighter of the future, John Connor. John Connor also sends back one human to fight the Terminator who ends up being the one who makes Sarah pregnant and is therefore John Connor’s father. The film is full of violence and killings from start to finish and together with the second Terminator film, there are some loopholes in the plot. It was also Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first big film, although he wasn’t challenged with much of a script and has very few lines to say. That said, he does play a good role. Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor also performs well, turning from a shy woman to the person who finally destroys the Terminator at the end of the film. This film was, surprisingly, surpassed by the sequel but still remains one of the best loved films of the last 20 years.
