If you thought you would never see the lovable friendly robot ever again you might be thinking you are seeing ghost. For now Arnold Schwarzenegger returns in the final part of the trilogy, Terminator three:- The rise of the machines. Arnold is back in one of two of his most popular roles to date) and he's back to save the world, or rather, save 2003. After watching a massive string of disappointments this year after a long build up of tension of excitement, It’s now time for the population to be subjected to the final instalment of these films.
The action comes thick and fast with state of the art visual effects, but beside all that, there is an emotional story beneath the eye candy, a story which beats a strong heartbeat about an young man carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. What does the Future hold for John Connor? Will he continue to be a nobody all his life, or will he face up to his destiny, ultimately, the dark future in which Mankind VS Machines in a war of hell.
Ten years after the events of Terminator 2 , John Connor remains greatly disturbed by the threat of Judgement Day being haunted by his dreams. Despite having been able to stop the assassination plans of the terminator in the previous film and stop the end of the world, he becomes increasingly worried that maybe this isn’t the end of it all and he is concerned he may not be able to fulfil the prophecy of his future ascendance after all.
The film starts with John Connor steering out of the way on his
bike to avoid hitting a deer and badly injures himself in the process. Because he has self erased his identity and has vanished out of thin air for the last ten years he opts to break into an animal sanctuary for some medication instead of a real hospital. His presence activates an intruder alarm and a local woman, Kate Brewster, is called in to investigate the disturbance. She spots an intruder and having captured him she discovers it’s a childhood fling, which she is surprised to see him after his lengthy disappearance. They chat about things until they hear a massive commotion of bangs and noise and after discovering the old lady killed on the floor having been shot several times by a mysterious female figure.
Unfortunately the T-X arrives then and tries to kill Kate for an unknown reason. Fortunately, Terminator arrives at that moment also. He locks Kate in back of her truck and John escapes with her. Terminator "borrows" a police motorcycle and follows them. T-X steals a giant crane truck and gives chase. She has the power to manipulate other machines so she made a bunch of unmanned police cars chase John as well. The end result is a massive auto wreck that levels half of downtown Los Angeles. Terminator joins John and Kate. Terminator didn't recognize John from before because this Terminator was not the one they met before.
This is a different model to the previous one. Well, Terminator "acquires" some supplies at a drug store then they set off to a cemetery where John sees his mother, Sarah's grave. Unfortunately, she had passed away. But she was cremated so her tomb was full of weapons which Terminator, John and Kate use to escape T-X and a horde of cops and FBI. Dr. Silberman arrives also to console Kate, but he runs off when he sees Terminator. Terminator explains why T-X wants to kill Kate as well: she's John's future wife as well as lieutenant! Her father, Robert, is in the air force and he and his team of scientists have perfected SkyNet, the defense computer than obliterates 3 billion people on Judgment Day, which would occur THAT day in less than three hours!

After thinking this film would fall flat on its face being dead and buried well before it’s time it was surprising to see this film produce such great high octance action throughout pumping gasoline through my veins and sending the blood pulsing as well as producing some laugh out loud moments making this a great enjoyable film to watch. The funniest moment of the film has to be when Arnie picks up some star glittered Elton john styled sun glasses and puts them on.It looks really funny!
This film has had mixed hype with a lot of people slating this film as a rubbish end to the trilogy. It has a different kind of feel to terminator 1 and 2 but this could be down to James Cameron not in charge of directing the film. It isn’t as dark and bleak and has injected a warmer and lighthearted feel to it was bursts of humour. The concept of the film is exactly the same but it isn’t as serious but that doesn’t necessarily make it worse.
Upon learning that Cameron wasn’t taking part in this movie put a dampener on things before it started giving it a bit of a uphill challenge before it started. I was sceptical at the start of production, but as time went by, I realised how much of a man Jonathan really is. He's a talented director, with such a huge eye for detail, a man in his own league.
The rest of the cast besides Arnold measure up extremely well. Nick Stahl plays the part of John Connor, a man of emotional torment, constantly wondering what the Future has in store for him. Claire Danes is as wonderful as ever as Katherine Brewster, a woman who also shares a destiny of unknown, but besides all this, there is the T-X! Played by the glamouress looking Christiana Loken she really plays the part of the mean exterminating machine extremely well.
I just feel that with the film gripping your right to the end of producing some edge of your seat moments it ended suddenly and not really producing a wow ending. The enemy terminator was chasing all through out the film then just dies suddenly which I suppose gives a element of surprise because the enemy never seems to die, it just keeps coming back. So it is kind of refreshing to have something different. It just seemed to me that it was rushed towards the end.
Never the less an amazing film, which is better than the predecessors and is worth getting out of the chair and either renting or buying right now! You wont be disappointed.
