Returning for a third bout of cyborg time travelling, Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises his good-robot role from TERMINATOR 2, once again travelling back from the future to protect...
more...future human resistance leader John Connor (played this time around by Nick Stahl). We soon discover that Connor has become something of a drifter, his mother Sarah Connor has passed away, and he has taken to the road in order to preserve himself for his supposed destiny. When Connor breaks into a lab to score some painkillers, he unwittingly runs into his future belle Kate Brewster (Claire Danes), and a whole load of titanium-plated-trouble in the form of a hot female Terminator played by newcomer Kristanna Loken. Hell-bent on destroying Connor, Brewster, and anyone else that gets in her way, Loken's Terminator comes face to face with Schwarzenegger's Terminator leading to some epic battles between the two cyborgs, and a neat string of one-liners from Schwarzenegger.
Director Jonathan Mostow (U-571) clearly relishes upping the CGI ante for this explosive sequel, providing some no-holds-barred action sequences. Mostow also offers intriguing storylines continued from the previous two films, delighting fans of the franchise. In the chaotic final sequences Schwarzenegger warns "she'll be back," hinting that there's more Terminator frenzy to come in the not-too-distant future.

Terminator 3 is a "must see" for anyone who loves Arnold Schwarzenegger, or simply anyone who enjoys a good action movie.

Plot:
Terminator 3 (15 yrs and over) begins by showing the now adult John Connor (Nick Stahl), as he deals with life without his mother, and the constant pressing concern over whether the war between man and machines has been averted, or whether it is still to come.

Enter two rather impressive terminators: good old Arnie, or Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was sent back in time to protect John Connor, and other potential resistence fighters, and who still manages to look great at 56. Also, the all new and improved T-X cyborg killing machine played most impressively by Kristanna Loken. From this point onwards the film soon picks up momentum, as the T-X tries to reprogramme Arnie and kill John Connor.

The film has one superb action sequence after another, and as if this wasn't enough excitement, a new character is included in the form of John's potential love interest and feisty fellow resistence fighter (Claie Danes). The couple not only have to survive numerous termination attempts, but also fight together to prevent a nuclear war.

You really must watch this film yourself to find out whether the couple succeed.

Particularly Good Bits:
To pick but afew; there is one instance where the new T-X cyborg hijacks a massive truck/crane type of vehicle (someone please put me out of my misery and tell me the proper name for this vehicle) and ruthlessly attempts to terminate the good guys. However, Arnie puts an end to this by fixing the end of the winch to the road, which pulls the "big truck" to a really cool jaw dropping emergency stop.

I also really enjoyed Arnies' apparent fixation with sunglasses, which occurs throughout the film as he trashes one pair after another. It's a great tie in with the other terminator films, and raises Mr Schwarzenegger's grade on the old cool-ometer.

Nit Picking:
The scene where Arnie acquires his clothes from the bar with Ladies Night, and emerges wearing Elton John look alike glasses didn't quite work for me. Maybe it was the glasses, or lack of a noticeable soundtrack. (Unlike Terminator 2, where Arnie unfolded and put on his glasses and got on his motorbike to the sound of "Bad to the Bone"- sooo cool)

Also it would have been nice to see more of the growing fight at the computer/Skynet complex with the newly activated machines. Here i would have expected at least some resistence from some military or guard personnel.

These criticisms are, however, just minor points, and from the film as i saw it.

Final Comment:
I ventured out to my local old theater/cinema, which has cramped and hard seating, but i enjoyed the film so much that i didn't even notice any lack of feeling in my lower half! A true tribute to a great film.
On a whole Treminator 3 was brilliant movie, and i look forward to adding it to my DVD collection in December.
