Terminator 2 - Judgement Day. Even the title is cool! A film on special effects steroids with action a-go-go.
Even so, the story and characterisation in this film is surprisingly good. Most sequels tend to be of a far poorer quality in these terms and although T2 can never match the raw, brutal power of The Terminator; with its added depth of character and equally fast and persuasive storyline, T2 is up there with the greats.
Linda Hamilton steals this movie though with her savage portrayal of the tortured Sarah Connor - the only adult on the planet who knows that the world is going to be soon overtaken by the machines. She brings a vitality and revealing depth to Sarah that surprised me with their ferocity. Those muscles in her biceps were scary!!
Arnie is Arnie. He is not the greatest actor in the world but he does his job well as the still indestructible Terminator, this time with a learning computer chip in his brain which helps him to become more human. And for the first time in an Arnie film of this ilk, his opponent is smaller than him! Robert Patrick as the T1000 cyborg is equally impressive as the even more indestructible liquid metal version that can change shape and form at will.
Edward Furlong as the young John Connor also adds a different perspective to the film. His portrayal as the smart, streetwise kid yet with the knowledge of the world's fate hanging on his shoulders, was quite impressive and his credit-card-fraud trick is really worth buying from a shop somewhere (with a credit card too!).
T2 is blessed with some groundbreaking special effects that are mind-bogglingly effective. The T1000 terminator was the first of its kind in the movie world and a uniquely and visually inspiring piece of software it is. The music again though supports a fast flowing storyline and there is, as always in Arnie's films, a superb battery of terrific one liners and some sharp dialogue.
An interesting parallel was run with the T1000 version intending to kill John Connor and sarah Conor intending to kill Miles, the creator of the computer chip that would eventually lead to the T1000 itself. Again, paradoxes will only be mentioned in passing here.

I particularly like the hidden messages in the film and the ironies, like John playing a video game where he is protecting the world, or the bad Termnator as a cop whilst the Good one is a bad-ass biker. Nice op, Cheers, Martin :o)

Personally preferred this to the first one, very good film, very good revue. Nearly rated it 'Helpful' because you used the word 'cool' without being ironic AND followed it with an exclamation mark!. Then I thought, hell, stop being so retentive.
