This DVD has to be one of the benchmark DVDs to which others should be compared.
Now this may come as a surprise as the film is not a latest blockbuster film (shot on high tech equipment and expensive film) but a classic filmed a good few years ago.
The Film
Well what can I say, it is a classic. One of the best films of the 90s and certainty worth a watch. This film slots well into the story set by the first Terminator but this time sees Arnie as the good guy against the latest Terminator who is sent back to kill John Connor and stop the original revolution.
I would recommend watching the first film if possible before diving into T2 but it is not essential.
The DVD
First of all I will say that this DVD is only available on a Region 1 American DVD (Due 08/10/2001 in Britain at time of writing). This means you will need a Multi-Region (or American) DVD player to view this.
But if possible this DVD is a must. The picture is great, presented in a nice 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen format. It is very clear and shows just how good DVD can be.
The sound is presented in both Dolby Digital and DTS which is great as if you have the necessary equipment you can run a great DTS soundtrack.
This DVD also has a lot of extra features and although a lot of the information is text based it does give a great insight into the film.
WARNING ONCE YOU READ THIS SECTION YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF BUYING THIS DVD WITHOUT THINKING!!!
The one feature that makes this DVD a must, is the different versions available. There is the original theatre version and the special edition both which can be seen on VHS. But this DVD adds an ULTIMATE EDITION (only accessible though a special code - see below) which includes more scenes that add to the films plot. If you are a fan of the film and own the VHS this alone may be a reason to but the DVD.
Overall a great DVD that should be commended.

Go to either the Theatrical or Special Edition menus
Enter this key combination: 8, 2, 9, 9, 7 - which is the day of Judgement Day itself (On some players you may have to press ENTER after each number, The letters down the side will go yellow if it is working)
Both the Terminator's eyes will turn red
You will now have the option to play the extended Ultimate Edition
