Review: "...An exemplary addition to an awesome oeuvre....An unconventional and remarkably moving chamber piece..." (Box Office, p.106, 01/04/2003)
"...[Akbari] seems to shoulder all of the film's contradictions in her world-weary yet spirited defiance..." (Entertainment Weekly, p.46, 14/03/2003)
"A conceptual tour de force and a braniac's road movie, Abbas Kiarostami's TEN goes from chilly abstraction to hot emotion in less than 60 seconds..." (Los Angeles Times, p.C1, 25/04/2003)
"...TEN is a work of inspired simplicity....[Ms. Akbari's] performance has about it an air of sly, confident defiance: it may be Mr. Kiarostami's camera, but she's the one behind the wheel..." (New York Times, p.E5, 05/03/2003)
Advantages: Very calming, beautiful cinematography Disadvantages: None
...Introduction
I first watched this film about fifteen years ago and loved it. Fifteen years later, watching it again, I enjoyed it even more. Filmed in Vietnam with Vietnamese actors, it was directed and produced by French movie makers. The film was directed by Anh Hung Tran, who also wrote the screenplay. It is rare that I find a film more visually pleasing than the plot, but the cinematography in this film is absolutely stunning. There is very little action and definitely not much in the way of speaking, but I found it hard to take my eyes of the TV screen from start to finish.
The story
Mui, a ten year old girl from the countryside whose father has recently died, is sent to work as a servant in a relatively wealthy household in Saigon in the 1950s. The family is somewhat dysfunctional; a daughter died seven years ago when...

...Starter for ten was a DVD that my Wife bought and it had been sat on our shelf whilst we waited for our new DVD player to arrive, as we couldn't get any of our DVD's to play at all on our old one. I have to admit I wasn't that bothered if I saw it or not and was actually slightly grateful that I was managing to hold off on this one for a while!
However, as soon as the new DVD player arrived my Wife insisted that we watch this as she has been wanting to for quite some time - since it was on in the cinema in fact but she hadn't managed to go and see it. She was so desperate to see it because she has the book and really wanted to see the film! So one evening we sat down to watch it with me not expecting much but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and overall glad that I had actually ended up watching this film!!
The story...

Advantages: Good Movie Disadvantages: Lengthy Movie
...One of the best Christian films which won many awards is the "The Ten Commandments" as compared with "Ben Hur" which won many oscar awards.
Iam going to talk about what is so interesting in this film. This film is based on the book of Exodus taken from the Bible.
This film is about how Moses was born when Israelites where taken to captivity and being treated as slaves by the Egyptians. There were 9 plagues followed by which "Pharaoh" releases the Israelites followed by the parting of Red Sea.
What's so interesting in this film is that "The 9 Plagues" occured only on Egyptians place and not on Israelites area i.e "Gorshen".
And then the parting of "Red Sea". You see the Israelites where in a situation where by they were caught up between the Egyptians and Red Sea. It seems as if there was no way out but you can see "God's Power...
