When I read about this DVD boxset I thought, what an odd set of films. But when you think about it they do all have one thing in common, and that is toilet humour.
I'll start with my favourite film from the bunch, which just so happens to be the most recently released. The modern day Thunderbirds made my the creators of South Park, it's Team America: World Police.
On first watch, whilst I thought it was very funny, it didn't seem to be able to hold the torch that the South Park Movie put so high up, but this was a new bunch of characters so some allowances could be made. Since watching it back after my first watch, I do find it more entertaining than ever.
I'm sure that the premise of the film was decided on everything that has been on the news about terrorism in the recent years, as in the first scene we are introduced to 'Team America' who's job is to police the world, and they are doing everything and anything in their power to stop terrorists from blowing up Paris.
There is a bigger story however, and that comes in the form of Kim Jong Il trying to blow up every major city on Earth (hence why this film has been banned from being shown in North Korea). To do this they have to recruit a new member in the form of a Broadway actor, using his acting skills he is required to infiltrate the terrorist organisation, and also along the way he will fall for a female member of the group.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the directors of the film, throw in insults at celebrities (e.g. Matt Damon), puppet sex and an entertaining soundtrack (albeit not as good as South Park's) to make this a worthy accolade to their name.
Secondly comes Jackass: The Movie. After the success of the MTV reality series they saw money to be made on the big screen, and that is exactly what they did. Since then, the sequel to this movie has also been released.
There's only so much you can say about the film, as there is no stories. It's just a usual Jackass episode, only instead of 20 minutes it lasts for 85. Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and all the rest of the usual suspects are there, and it involves the stunts that they couldn't show on normal television.
The stunts include things like sticking a toy car up their backside in a condom, so clearly if the TV show was not your thing this won't be either. However, this film is nowhere near as bad as some of the things you will see in Jackass-a-like, 'Dirty Sanchez'. There's only one watch to this film really, unless you get off on watching the same things over and over again.
Not really worth a purchase, but slightly entertaining.
And finally comes a film that is 10 years old but stands the test of time, it's Beavis And Butthead: Do America. Another MTV show hit the big screen, and once again it was intended for it's audiance that watched the indivisual episodes.
It's an easy to watch movie, I believe I first watched it when I intended to stay up one night so I just threw it in and it kept me awake. The story sees Beavis and Butthead's television set be stolen, so in a bid to find it they journey around America. This is where the storyline gets a bit messed up, and generally there's just a lot of little stories going on as they try to find their TV that keeps the movie entertaining. These involve things like them trying to get with someones wife, voiced by Demi Moore.
If it's your thing you will like it, but it's not something you will boast to people about watching.
All in all in this boxset you have 10 years of film, although only one of the films is from the 90's. Team America is by far the best film, followed by B&B and then Jackass. If people throwing up, being in pain and just plain acting stupid this boxset will be for you, although Team America is the only film that really deserves a purchase.
