When I went to my first placement school as a trainee teacher I thought "surely it can't be like teachers?" I was so wrong. Any teacher I know has dubbed someone in the school as the dopey but loveable Brian, the computer geek as Kurt and the sexy bohemian as Simon. Unfortunately every school also has a Jenny and a Clare! Watch it you'll see what I mean.

In series two you can see that the budget has been "uped" so there are more weird and wonderfully bizare stunts being pulled by the students in the background and the necessary sheep shot is still in every episode.

The basic premis is that there are a group of teachers who we follow in a very "free-hand" shooting style and they lie and blag their way through every day. Simon (Andrew Lincon, Egg from This Life) is the focal character of the programme but as we get to series two Kurt (Navin Chowdhry) and Brian (Adrian Bower) become much more relevant as the comic side kicks. The ideas are very basic and show the gritter, sexier side to teaching (sorry have to laugh at the idea of teaching being sexy!) With many shots being in either the staff room or the pub you thankfully see very little actual teaching!

This DVD set is over 3 discs:
Disc 1 Episodes 1-4
Disc 2 Episodes 5-8
Disc 3 Episodes 9-10

Each episode selection in the main menu is very clearly laid out with thumbnail pictures of each point it will take you to and the key quote of that section. This makes browsing so simple if you cannot watch the whole DVD at once.

I loved serries one and was not disappointed by series two. The addition of the sexy English teacher Penny did make it all all bit predictable but the original charm and toilet humour of the first series was still there.

Amazon only have this single series format in their new and used section
Play only has the 4 series boxset.

If you can get the single series it will probabaly be worth it more as series 4 was very poor in comparison to the others. Average price about £17. Fantastically funny and one to watch again and again especially if you want a real pick-me-up one day. Works on a really simple level but may need knowledge of series one for the "in jokes" to make sense.

Quote of the series: "Don't want to go to school tomorrow. I hate the first day back. I get this kind of knot here!" - Simon teacher of English!

DVD features include behind the scenes interviews but nothing else of any note!
