Teachers is a program set in and around an English school called Smmerdown Comprehensive. It is based on a group of teachers who have all the maturity and sense of the children that they are supposed to be teaching, exibiting all the neurotic, paranoid and self-obsessing characteristics of their younger counterparts.

The soundtrack was excellently compiled as it captures at the same time the sound that teenagers (and hence the main characters) might listen to and also the whole mood of the program, that of a cheerful, upbeat and simple life. This means it works really well with the show itself.

Teachers is a program set in and around an English school called Smmerdown Comprehensive. It is based on a group of teachers who have all the maturity and sense of the children that they are supposed to be teaching, exibiting all the neurotic, paranoid and self-obsessing characteristics of their younger counterparts.
Simon is an english teacher from whose perspective a lot of the program is seen. He is arguably the most child-like and often goes to Susan for help with his problems. Susan is a psychology teacher and she is probably the 'mother-figure' of the group as she is the one they all turn to when they need help. Brian and Kurt are flat-mates and are polar-opposites in terms of behaviour and appearance.Their arguments are a source of much of the comedy in the show. Their are other characters that leave and join throughout all three series but these are the most important ones.
The strong characters involved help to heighten this sense of the childish and infantile, as they are constantly doing things such as playing practical jokes or going to the mother-like character (Susan) for help.
This aspect of the program is coupled with surreal moments, littered throughout the show (such as tigers walking out of the toilet cubicles or a character physically shrinking whilst being lectured about behaviour). This is done to exxagerate the main joke of the show (that the teachers are just like the children).

The first and third series are both fairly good but the second series is far better than both of them. This is possibly as it is the time just as the writers started coming up with better (and more surreal) scripts and before the most important characters started leaving.
I would highly recommend this dvd to people as it is a clever glimpse of life at school, both for teachers and students, and it is also extremely funny for the most part. There are flaws but they are minor quibbles and should not be taken as an attempt at discouragement from buying this excellent box set.
