Advantages: Some good car chase scenes, some fairly funny dialogue, Disadvantages: Formulaic
I watched this the other day (you've gotta love having time off during summer :)) as it was shown on Film4 and I'd keep your eyes open if you have Freeview, as its worth catching on TV but I wouldn't say its the sort of movie that most people would really think is worth going out of their way to purchase on DVD or anything.
This is a remake or American version of a hit French movie, by Luc Besson. Its an action packed comedy, starring Queen Latifah as a sort of girl boy racer called Belle, who has a souped up Taxi Cab that she finally gets her Taxi license to be able to go out and take paying customers for rides in and Jimmy Fallon, who plays a unlucky NY cop, detective Washburn. They end up meeting up when Washburn, apparently for the third time totals a police car and in doing so ruins a bodega, which costs the police department ...

A loose remake of John Ford's The Searchers, Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver tells the tale of Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro in an iconic, legendary, career-defining performance), a Vietnam veteran serving as a night-shift cabbie on the streets of New York City.
