I first came across the TV series NCIS whilst working abroad. It was, however, being shown dubbed and, as I have yet to progress beyond lesson 2 of my "Teach Yourself German" Cd-rom, I am somewhat limited to ordering a coffee, discussing the tall blonde Helmut with Marlene (if you like that look) and moaning about my mortgage (which, incidentally, I don't have). I was, however, intrigued by the fast paced and stylish action that I saw and so jumped at the chance to buy season1 on DVD when it was recently released for Region 2.
THE SETTING:
The show revolves around the activities of a group of special agents and forensics specialists in the 'Navy Criminal Investigative Service' in Washington DC, who investigate all manner of criminal goings on connected to both the Navy and the Marine Corps.

The show does not seem to be as well known as it should be but the DVDs sell well and have been out of stock on several occasions when Ive gone to buy a series - of which there are currently three, with talk of a movie and one final series.
The show is about the strange daily life of the Griffin family, who live in Quahog in Rhode Island. Their antics are bizarre, hilarious ...
William Shatner ('Star Trek') stars as the tough-talking, no-nonsense LA cop, T.J. Hooker, in this top-rating crime drama that premiered in 1982. An undercover officer whose partner's death spurs him to return to the beat in order to rid the streets of crime, Hooker is also assigned to train new recruits - which he does according to his own hard-as-nails philosophy of policing. Hooker is partnered with the very green young officer, Vince Romano (Adrian Zmed), a South Philly kid fresh from the Academy. Hooker reports to station Captain Sheridan (Richard Herd), with whom he sometimes clashes due to his exacting methods, but with whom he shares a deep mutual respect. In the first season, Officer Vicky Taylor (April Clough) was often on desk duty, but was replaced in the second by the captains' daughter, Stacey Sheridan (Heather Locklear, 'Melrose Place'), who quickly worked her way up to patrol officer. Partnered with Jim Corrigan (James Darren), an officer very much after Hooker's own heart and with an old-fashioned, strict mode of operating, the pair was often on the scene to back up Hooker and Romano when they needed it. This release includes all the episodes from the first and second seasons.
