Swingers (Special Edition)

Advantages: Perfect reflection of nineties pop culture
Disadvantages: I dont know its one of my favorite moves.

...Poor Mikey. He left his girlfriend of six years to head out to the west coast and make it as a comedian/actor. Six months later, Michelle hasn't called, none of the beautiful babies in L.A. are paying any attention to Mike and Career wise he host an open mike every Tuesday, he played a bus driver in a movie and he has an agent who specializes in magicians. Swingers tells the story of Mike trying to get over his girlfriend with the help (usually) of his friends set against the backdrop of the swing scene in nineties L.A. Swingers is money and succeeds on many different levels. As a comedy it keeps you on your toes shooting out rapid fire one - liners delivered with dead eye accuracy by the fantastic cast. ...Aliens is one of the greatest sequels of all time. My feelings on the film are in much greater detail are available in my review of the movie itself. However this review is based more on the content of the DVD and its features. This is a single disc special edition version. Brief Story Outline 57 years after her first encounter with the alien infested planet ( LV-426 ) Ripley returns with a force of marines to investigate a colony now located there. It soon becomes apparent the alien menance is more than they bargined for. This movie is largely regarded as one of the few example were a sequel is worthy of its predeccessor. Somehow Cameron was able to make a great horror movie into a great action movie whilst holding onto the feel of the original. Its a remarkable feat indeed given the impact of "Alien." Advantages: Gripping
Disadvantages: As depressing as hell

...Unforgiven is a great film, which Eastwood intentionally left until he was old enough to play the part. However, in my opinion the extra footage and stuff they stick on to these special editions rarely add anything extra to your enjoyment. If you already have "Unforgiven" on DVD I wouldnt buy the special edition. But, if you just want to watch the film and havent got it yet, then go for it! Unlike Eastwood's early westerns: Fistfull of dollars etc, this film is really quite dark. You get to care about all the characters so you get quite upset when they start dropping like flies. There arent exactly goodies and baddies either, as in Eastwood's other westerns. If you like westerns, then no, this probably isnt for you. If you're a fan of Eastwood himself then this is definitely a must watch. He's directing it too, so check out... Read review
