If you want a technical description that can be found in the blurb or on any other site, I'm not the reviewer for you.
If you want to know how the product works, how the film made me feel, how the songs made me dance then I'm the man for you.

If you were like me and grew up on a stable diet of Buffy, Dawsons Creek, Angel and Roswell High then this show is for you. Especially if you are looking for something other than Smallville to get you through the dark, winter nights.
Ignore the front cover artwork on the boxset as well, I can say with true conviction that the show isn't as silly as what is depcited there. You will know what I mean as soon as you see the first episode.
What I mean by that is in the first 5 minutes you have the spectacle of the brothers mother enveloped in flames, stuck to the roof burning to death with the house exploding into a giant ball of flames. Not bad for the first 5 mins and you still have another 40 minutes to go!
The thing wtih shows like this is you either love them or hate them, the marmite of the televsion nation. If you are like me, you will love this, especially in later seasons when the actors get more comfortable with each other.
In season one, they stick to a formula that even through is repetitive doesn't get boring as each one adds another ingredient to the mix that will eventually make the overall big story arc.
Not going to ruin it for you, but if you like humour, action, horror, special fx, over the top emotion on the scale of Dawson's Creek then this is for you. Did I mention that the sountrack kicks butt as well....hang on, this does sound like I'm writing about the Creek here...ah well...
Why not give it at shot, especially if you are a fan of the other shows I have already mentioned. What I would say though, is buy the whole season 1 boxset instead of the volumes individually. There really is no need for them to be split in two...plus it's cheaper.

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD features. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you want to change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, this can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom.

nice review but jumps around a bit and doesn’t really end up telling you much (apart from all of the other shows you liked in the 90s!) martin
