I am an aspiring writer (yes I am one of the many 'authors' of the world, with a first novel 'on the way'). I love Manga, monkeys, Thai food, Polish vodka and Irish accents. BSG rules! Ahem.

Great show. My brother was very critical when the show first aired, kept saying it was 'just ripping off the X Files'. Of course, theres a big difference between this and X Files: the spooky goings on in the Files was SOMETIMES actually supernatural in origin. In this great little show, the story is ALWAYS a ghost / monster of the week. And that is just one of the big drawers for me.
The acting is consistently good, as is the writing. I couldn't believe that 'McG' produced this, to be honest. I hate the Charlies Angels movies, but this show is a gem. Dean (for example) is funny, likeable, charismatic. I find that I worry for the characters safety sometimes, even though deep down I fairly certain that neither protagonist is going to meet a sticky end!
All in all it is a highly entertaining 'monster of the week' show, along the lines of Buffy (which I am a big fan of), with the occasional 'arc' thrown in for good measure, and a good healthy mythology to keep the viewers hooked.

Good review of the series, although I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD features. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, which can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom, please let me know and I'll re-rate.
