Superbad
Introduction
Superbad, released in 2007 is an American Teen "comedy" directed by Greg Mottola and produced by Judd Apatow The film is based on a novel written by two of the actors in the film. It is the 11th film produced by Judd Apatow and follow a very similar mould to his previous films such as; knocked up and 40 year old virgin.

Plot
Superbad is a cautionary tale about two socially inept teenage boys about to graduate from high school. They have an extraordinarily dependent friendship, but now, they've found themselves in different colleges and are forced realize they will be spending life apart. Evan (Michael Cera) is sweet, smart, and generally terrified his polar opposite, Seth (Jonah Hill) is foul-mouthed, volatile, and all-consumed with the opposite sex.
Both guys get invited to a girl's party where they are both confident that they will hook up with other girls attending the party, if they bring alcohol. Enter McLovin (Chris Mintz-Plasse) holder of a fake ID, Evan and Seth force at great pains McLovin to purchase alcohol but just after the transaction was completed a robber enters the store and knocks him out. Police arrive and question everyone, Seth and Evan see this and think McLovin has bottled it, so they ensile on a crusade to bring alcohol to the party, McLovin on the other hand travels round with the police officers determined to prove that they can have fun.
Soundtrack
The films sound track is modern and vibrant created by Lyle Workman. Workman creates most of the tunes on the track but there are also performances by; The Roots, The Bar Keys, Sergio Mendes and Jean Knight. There is no stand out song and the whole soundtrack adds a little to the film.
Analysis
This film has been created and formulated out of the same mould as almost any teen Hollywood film since American Pie. The problem is American Pie was so good because it was something totally different; American Pie two was good as well but from there on in nothing has even come close to reaching those heights. Superbad to me was unfunny and trying to be something it wasn't; it was hard to tell whether it was taking itself seriously at times or not, which then turned into stupidity rather than genuinely funny comedy. In my opinion the film would survive with out the two stupid cops and McLovin altogether and instead give greater detail to the plot of the rest of the film. However this film amusing in places, and I did watch it from start to finish which puts it in a good standing. Not Superbad, Neither Supergood, Therefore SuperAverage
