Formed in 1977 the band was named Highway Star the Belfast. Shortly after the bands formation the name changed shortly changed to Stiff Little Fingers. The band fits nicely in to the punk music genre but has a hint of Irish/celtic tones underlying in their music.
There have been some band member changes the current band line up is Jake Burns, Ian McCallum, Steve Grantley and Ali McMordie.
SLF music has a knack for introducing their life experiences into their music and in listening to their music you are also exposed not only their military experiences they have witnessed living in Northern Ireland but also the bands political awareness. SLF, have grown and developed along with their music and it still remains vigorously honest.
Although some listeners may pull away don't their views are honest and I must admit some of their lyrics are what I am thinking but will not necessarily say!
For those who like early Green Day music, you would might like this to.

When listening and watching their music the refreshing feeling live honest music with, no dubbing and backing tracks is great. The friendship the band members have can clearly been seen and you can tell after all these years they still enjoy playing and writing music. There is no flashy fireworks or light displays that you get on some music DVD's just fun enjoyable music which I love.
Although those who have seen SLF live would be used to listening to Jake talking about the inspiration behind the lyrics e.g Strummerville, Joe Strummer who sadly pass away and Tin Solider, about the Solider who swallowed tin foil to get out the army. The DVD did not show these little chats with the audience which I missed.
And as more me will I see SLF again..... yes our collection of their DVDs, CD's and albums are still growing and no doubt we will see them again either in Frome or Bristol with the hubby in his favourite Liverpool football shirt.
The extras on the DVD include interviews with the band, picture gallery and audio set up
