This is my favourite film of all time, for a film that hasn’t got many people raving about it; this film has an all star cast including Julia Roberts, Daryl Hannah, Dolly Parton, Sally Fields and many more.

THE PLOT

This film is great because it's actually based on a true story, which means it's both stronger and better than any fiction story. The film centers on six women of different ages and different classes over a couple of years. The film follows their hardships, triumphs, and friendships with each other. It's a great "chick" movie and men usually hate it. The main story is based around Shelby who is a serious diabetic and suffers terrible seizures however despite her doctor's warnings and her over-protective mother's wishes Shelby is determined to live life to the full and part of living life and she does. The story really introduces everyone at Shelby’s wedding and that’s where the five friends take in the new girl Annelle. Not long after the wedding Shelby announces she is having a child with her husband Jackson, which doesn’t please her mother as her mother knows the risks that could happen. After having the baby Shelby’s health goes down hill and her friends and family all come together to help one another and overcome the tragedy that is there awaiting them.

Steel Magnolias will touch the heart of every one that watches it and tears and laughs will be shared. I recommend that everyone should at watch this film at least once. The laughs come mainly from the one line insults that two of the older members of the group. Ouiser and her best friend Clairee are always throwing insults at each other but deep down they know they love each other dearly.
