Spanning some 5 decades the Quo have been churning out the best of British rock music. Loved by their army of fans reviled by some critics. This DVD won't disappoint the avid Quo fan, of which i confess am one. it contains both live and studio performances of many of their greatest hits, I opens with Caroline which looks to me like the performance for HRH Prince Charles at the Princes Trust Concert 1982 (i was at the NEC the next night - Brill)

Spanning some 5 decades the Quo have been churning out the best of British rock music. Loved by their army of fans reviled by some critics. There can be no doubt as to their success. over 120 million album sales worldwide, the most appearances on TOTP, approaching 50 top 40 singles, the list goes on. Most of the 70's and 80's tracks are either the studio recordings or promotional videos, which are fine for nostalgia but the best performances are the live tracks such as 'Don't Waste My Time', Little lady and Burning Bridges.
And that brings me onto the most disappointing thing about this DVD. There are no sleeve notes and you are left guessing where and when many of the performances take place?
The performances feature the most well known line ups, including the Frantic 4 - Rossi, Parfitt, Lancaster and Coughan; Pete Kircher (who replaced John Coughan) Rhino Edwards (who replaced Alan Lancaster) Jeff Rich (who replaced Pete Kircher) Matt Letley (who replaced Jeff Rich) and Andy Bown on keyboards.
The DVD tends to jump from era to era and lacks continuity, you get each title come up on the screen with a denim background, as if you didn't know what they were? there are promotional videos interspersed with live performances
eg a live performance of 'Break the Rules', which is part of a melody when the Quo perform it live is followed by the video for 'Something About You Baby I Like' yet on the live Break The Rules you can hear the band start Something About You baby I Like. i find this odd.
You get the quirky 'Rockin All Over The World' video where Alan Lancaster is played by a puppet? 'Pictures Of Matchstick Men' from the 60's and some of the not so successful numbers from the 80's and 90's such as 'Fun Fun Fun' with the Beach Boys, 'When You Walk In The Room' of 'Searchers' fame. Not their finest hour.
All in all i think this DVD is a filler by the marketing/management of Quo and doesn't do them justice. It has a lazy feel about it, just a load of old videos put together to fill a space between studio albums releases? It has some gems and some nostalgic video but is not the best compilation.
The avid quo fan will enjoy most of it but i wouldn't say it was anywhere near their best?
Advantages: not bad album Disadvantages: only 2 new songs
The Status Quo - Xs all areas, greatest hits albums was released in September 2005 I think, this albums all the original hit spanning throughout the years where Status Quo, with songs like, Pictures of mastickmen, Ice in the sun, Rocking all over the worls, Again again, whatever you want. This album is a double album and this album was releasedwith 2 new singles (you're come round) and (thinking of you), my point of view to this album that theres ...
