Stargate is a 10-series TV programme based on the 1994 film of the same name. It tells the story of a device found in Egypt which allows instananeous transportation from Earth to a network of planets across the galaxy. The early series focus on the first encounters with an alien race called the Gou'ald - a parasitic race that occupies human bodies and which bases their culture on Egyptian mythology. The human goal is to explore the galaxy and acquire new technology for the benefit of mankind - but the teams excounter trouble along the way.
I bought this box set in October 2008 and think it is amazing. As a fan of the series I found it incredibly convenient to have every single episode in one unit with the addition of the feature length episode called 'The Ark of Truth'.
Cost
I purchased this item from play.com for £99.00. This equates to £9.90 per series against an average cost of £25-30 if you buy the individual series separately. Incredible value!
Packaging
The entire collection is contained within a cardboard box with the design shown in the picture on the reverse. The design is not particularly attractive, but can easily be hidden on the shelf.
Essentially this collection puts together each of the series boxsets that you can buy in the shops - and so the design of each case sleeve is a copy of the original sleeve design. Each series is contained within its own case. Each case is "m-lock" meaning that there are a number of DVD clips/holders in each case keeping the discs secure.
The Ark of Truth comes in its own slimline DVD case.
Downsides
After this boxset was created, Stargate:Continuum was released, and I understand that more films are to be made. This undermines its effect as providing the complete Stargate SG1 DVD collection and may put some people off. All I will say is that the price of this boxset makies it incredible value when compared to the latest 'Complete' boxsets.
Extras
As mentioned above, this is really just a collation of all of the individual boxsets that you can already buy in the shops, and so there are none of the special extras that you may expect to find where the boxset has been created for a celebration years after the series has ended.

Sorry for the low rating, but you've covered everything but the contents of the DVDs. For someone who has never seen the show, you've said absolutely nothing about it.
