Being an 80's child I've grown up thinking Star Wars is the greatest story ever told from Luke Skywalker's X-Wing blowing up the death star to the biggest revaltion of movie history that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's 'Father'.
But when I watched the entire trilogy recently I couldn't help but think if I hadn't loved star wars as a child would I really still believe its the greatest series of movies and as much as it pains me to say this but the answer is no.
Apart from Darth Vader and Han Solo all other performances are very average, ok to be fair it isnt exactly a plot that warrents oscar winning performances but Mark Hamill's acting after Obi-Wan's been killed is almost laughable. Not to mention the dialougue in all three films, its honestly like George Lucas asked his 10 year old nephew to write the screen play for him.
Revenge of the Sith aside i'm no fan of the prequels but when you compare the fight scenes you realise exactly how badly made the oiginal fight scenes were.
I still love Star Wars but the fact of the matter is there are better trilogies out there and this by no means is the greatest story ever told.

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD features. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, which can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom, please let me know and I'll re-rate.
